You don't run something that specific without knowing about a trend, or having a plan for a niche.

There's other big city refugees as well, of course, and they might be settling in other states like TX or the Carolinas. I have zero faith they're flipping to red voters within a few months of leaving blue strongholds. So I want to see what's going on with transplants first, before I can analyze whether this is a red year or purple year for Florida.

Maybe they're only a fraction of 1% percent of the electorate, but 2020 is a year when all paranoia is justified.

Sorry for the double post, but I found the answer.

In order for you to become an official Florida resident, you need a Declaration of Domicile, which can only be applied after you live 183 days (or half a year) within the state. Also keep in mind that you need to register 29 days before the election to be eligible to vote. Add them up, and 212 days before November 3rd is on April 5th. I wouldn't worry too much about the New York transplants yet, especially since you 100% need a voter ID in Florida to vote.

EDIT: Also keep in mind approval times taking days to weeks, forgetting to do it, and other factors that may increase the time and make it longer.

EDIT 2: Its actually a "rigorous" process to get that Domicile shit. You need multiple pieces of proof over your extended stay in Florida to actually get it. And it states that plane tickets aren't sufficient enough because you could've gone someplace else. They recommend a detailed log for clarity. Holy shit.

Was watching Trump's labor day speech today . I was surprised at one other thing he said which was that he believed Copamala will never be president and then walked back his words by stating that he remembered Obama said the same thing about him.

The man has a high degree of self awareness as he didn't want to tempt fate lol. He really is way smarter than the shitlibs want to believe in. Will be interesting now how he tackles Joe Biden.

That got me to poke around a bit too.

The requirements on the election site FAQ only say "be a resident".

Which is fine, except I clicked through the registration site and started a new application, and I can't see anywhere that says you need that Declaration of Domicile. It only wants a Driver's License.

Checked the site for getting a new FL license. It also has the 6 month requirement, however there are other ways to establish residency. The list of documentation needed to establish residency can be as simple as a utility bill; they care more about establishing the location rather than the length of residence.

TL;DR You could get enough together to start a voter registration within a 30 day billing cycle of moving to FL, if you have a job and a home address. But it would require you to be motivated enough to start the whole process by now. I don't know if the election officials would actually investigate and vet your residency, or just let you get on the rolls to be safe.

So, maybe not a big factor in 2020. But it's still a longer term trend to keep an eye on.

Ya'll are making too much of the New York -> Florida connection. That's been a standard trope as long as I've been alive. This isn't anything special or new, it's just, at the very most, an increase in the flow of residents. But that flow has always existed. Plus the NY types that come to FL much of the time are NY secular Jews. That's peak DNC donor material (hence the event). They're not as bad as California secular Jews, but they still are more frigid than the average person re Trump.

Though who knows with the Iran stuff. Synagogues in FL were having academic discussions about why the Iran deal was so terrible (during the Obama presidency) which were fairly well populated by the congregations. The media class might have attempted to erase all of that from the average upper-middle class Jewish voter's mind, and it certainly doesn't help that it tends so often to be a (((media class))), but it's hard to erase everything involving good news for Israel down here.

I don't even know why they bother because it's clearly not stopping people from making these sorts of videos, but if it makes them feel like they're winning, good for them I guess.
