Reminder that Mayor Bowser let the mob harass RNC convention attendees, and that Trump has called her weak on riot control since back at the start of June when he had the National Guard clear the street.
Also, the last time they surrounded the White House, there was only a thin line of Park Police keeping them back the first night, it took them 1-2 nights to establish proper crowd control and spacing. I don't think Metro PD was there until the 3rd night. I'm sure they've toughened up the response since then, but it might take a day or two to get the right agencies in there.

Almost mobody is useful. Most people suck at their jobs and what they do. I feel like I'm better at diagnosing my dogs illnesses on hunches than my vet when they supposedly look at her. This cop hate is retarded but so is the cop love. Sayings "cops just want to go home and eat a warm meal like everyone else" is not helpful when cops do all the stupid shit regular people do too; you can say that of every other person, except with cops they are often involved in emotionally tense situations where snarky sarcasm and respect can be the difference between compliance and not.
I just don't elevate cops to some level of mysterious hero. They're people doing a job and sometimes the wrong people get hired, sometimes they need way better training, and sometime the department is run like shit enabling these problems. The guy saying they never see cops doing anything wrong is pretty amazing as that makes cops almost angelic in their behavior, and having interacted with plenty I'm kind of shocked by this revelation.
Like I said, I run a FB group for a smaller town and the cops in there, if on the job they act anything like they do in my forum, then they're definitely causing problems. You know those stupid 'MURICA stereotypes? Their facebook profiles literally look like that. And yes, I have seen examples to the contrary, so I know it's not all of them--but they're out there for sure.
Most of a police officer's job is notoriously boring. Grouchy and bored people do stupid shit when irritated. Cops are human and it's silly to hold them or anyone to level of paragon and pretend they don't do bad shit or make the problem worse. Also, it erodes trust in the local policing as gruff militaristic policing makes civilians few police as the enemy (and police often talk amongst each other like civilians are the enemies).
It doesn't matter if you (the general "you") think a cop's snarky sarcasm is warranted or not. That's not the point.

So a final update on my local CVS.
I stopped by there to pick up some stuff today. Mostly back to normal. No one seemed dissuaded from shopping there, and the manager from the video I posted was in there working like normal.
There were 3 cop cars outside watching over things and a friendly security guard inside, but I don't think the "allow shoplifting" protest won many people over.
Also the cafe the protestors stole chairs from had half of their patio taped off and the chairs gone. Probably has them out back being disinfected.

That PM article is kinda hard to read. Here is a better one. Apparently he killed his girlfriend by multiple stab wounds, then broke into a pump house before barricading himself in a structure. When SWAT went in, he was found dead in a tank with bleach. So both the woman (girlfriend/wife) and Travis are dead.

My hope is that they're Robert Heinlein type socialists. They're good at one thing having nothing to do with economics, so they can afford the "luxury" of supporting socialism. However, once they get proof the stuff doesn't work, they switch and look for something pragmatic which does.
(Context is that Heinlein's first novel was 110% socialist utopian, with full UBI and a social credit system, but his later works are either anarchist or libertarian. He wound up calling himself "philosophical anarchist" or "autarchist".)
In the context of BLM and police abolishing, I have no hope for the BLM and lefty intellectual types, because they lack that pragmatic streak. The morons rioting in the streets are the same types who dismiss the USSR's collapse by saying "real Communism has never been tried".

I think this joke is probably close to the truth of what the FBI is like.
They aren't for solving real problems or even protecting people, they are for investigation what ever little stupid problem the superiors want to investigate (and the occasional clean up of the wealthy elites sloppy messes). The current flavor of the day is "damn dirty white supremacist are totally forming the 4th reich" after the whole "Trump is totally hobnobbing with Putin" ended up being a nothing burger.
I'm convinced you can drive a semi up to the FBI completely stuffed with paperwork, written confessions, and evidence that Antifa has a network all built around causing chaos and they will just shrug. Currently they need all their resources watching Jimmy Bob in the middle of buttfuck nowhere who said some spicy things on facebook and owns a scary looking rifle or some shit.
