Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

It's dumber than that though - potentially locking down the county, meaning no holidays in the country for Dubs - but the airport is still open and as per Ryanair's court case, there's no restrictions on flying out.

So, yeah, we could theoretically be barred from taking a holiday in a neighbouring county but flying to Poland or Germany is totally fine. Fucking lunacy.

I've got a quick question/observation

I've tried to get the total US death from 2019 vs 2020 month to date and I am getting no where. Every search spits out pages on pages of Co-Vid numbers but I cannot locate and MTD totals for all causes.

My Google Fu isn't exactly weak but I'm getting no where and fast.

Can anyone find the CDC number for total deaths in the US month to date for 2020 vs the same for 2019 or even 2018?

If I Fu hard I get sent to all sorts of suspect sites, like Epoctimes and anti-vax shit that claim total deaths are lower in 2020 but their links are just more junk sites spewing out crap stats. I'm after official CDC numbers.

Anyone been able to find these comparisons?
If you find it, do please post. I've been looking too. I did think I found it a few weeks ago and there was a big Covid spike back in March, but then I remember it going back down to normal.

Does this help?

The last of link was kind of usefull but I must be reading the chart wrong as I think it says;

Total deaths in California in March of 2019 was 21,392 and total deaths in California in March of 2020 was 24,967. Which is off isn't it?

Sadly the report doesn't post any numbers past March 2020 so I guess ww will just have to wait to see the true death totals I guess so we can determine the real effects of Covid-19.

Props for the find though, that site will come in handy.

So this video just came out talking about the economic lockdowns
and it prompted the following interaction:

German: Why is the eviction thing such a big deal? What if people just pay utilities so it's a net neutral?
American: Then the landlord can't pay mortgage.
German: What do they mean the landlords have to pay mortgages? How can you be a landlord if you don't own a home?

My question, do other countries require you to have homes completely paid off to rent them out?

Are you trying to work out excess deaths? Maybe try these:

No, what I'm trying to do is set up a comparison between total death month by month for the US for 2019 vs 2020.

I want to see for myself the actual impact of Co-Vid on mortality in the US. and they only way to do that currently is to compare base numbers as most "sources" have anyone with Co-Vid antibodies dying as a Co-Vid death. Which IMHO significantly skews statistics as most (<90%) of Co-Vid deaths have at least one major co-morbitiy. Ie: they were going to die anyway and Co-Vid may not have even been a significant factor for their death.

As an example if someone suffering from a terminal cancer has tested positive for Co-Vid it's classified as a Co-Vid death as well as a cancer death and to me that is so much bullshit. Add in the fact that hospitals are testing all their patients as a matter of policy now and it's not really surprising how Co-Vid deaths are spiking.

For my own reasons I want to know how many Co-Vid deaths had which mortalities attached and what those mortalities numbers are. What age brackets were most affected and the overall death rate for individuals of said brackets who were infected with Co-Vid.

IE: I'm trying to get actual numbers of "real" Co-Vid deaths and not just those of some poor elderly persons or some terminal individuals who happen to suffer from Co-Vid while they were in the hospital dying of another cause.

For any other disease this info is readily available but for Co-Vid finding anything concrete, as in stats put out by a reputable hospital or governmental agency, is frickin impossible.

Holy. Fuck. This extremely overweight cow is one of the WuFlu testers the Minnesota Department of Health is sending to random households to test. Look at that dirty van! The supplies are stored in garbage bags! She has dirty fingernails! :stress:

Tyrant Timmy Walz had the balls to tweet about following muh science over politics as he is destroying the state over politics. The replies were great per usual.

It really isn't available for any other disease either. Pretty much every number you see is just an estimate.

For example: the flu numbers you see about how many people died? Totally estimates. They don't actually count them up or anything. The estimate of flu deaths for the 2019-2020 season by the CDC is 24,000-62,000. It's hardly concrete.

Honestly, the excess deaths table that @Standardized Profile posted is probably the best rough estimate for the true impact of the virus in the short term, but the longer term impact (such as old people dying 12-24 months earlier than they would have anyway) won't really be reflected in any numbers you'd find right now, since they'd still be alive. The expectation would be that we'd have a lower than expected number of deaths next year if that's the case (since they're already dead), but we obviously can't look at next years' hard data until next year.

Realistically, even ignoring the politicking and whatnot going on, having a realistic appraisal of the situation is mostly impossible right now.

God damn look at the size of her!
If anyone isn't already convinced this whole thing is security theater these images should at least make you start doubting because holy shit. This lady is a "COVID victim" just waiting to happen at that weight.

Much like what the idiot governor of Michigan did. At one time people in her state couldn't go to their vacation homes in another part of Michigan but people from other states could go to their vacation homes in Michigan. No common sense whatsoever. Smacks of the Nazis.

Okay, so now we're back to Biden saying he'll order a nationwide mask mandate. Fuck whatever his legal team says, that's blatantly unconstitutional. Not only that, people are already getting tired of this shit and want to go back to normal lives, but now here's Slow Joe saying "fuck that, accept the New Normal™, peons." To me, that screams "don't let the Dems anywhere near power for a long time," but to be fair, I already knew that from how all the tinpot dictators happen to be overwhelmingly blue.

Speaking of, ours got extended again through the end of the month, but other restrictions are being eased up on, like increasing capacity limits in businesses. Deaths are continuing to trend downward (fucking don't give a rat's ass about case numbers), so we're doing alright on the whole. I've seen fewer and fewer people wearing them outside; many I think are like me and they rip them off as soon as they've left the building. Keeping my fingers crossed that the mandate finally ends this time. I'll probably have to keep one on-hand in case a store still requests their usage, but I guess that'll keep going until this whole shebang ends (rainbow sticker, I know).

On a more personal side note, I was out running errands today and ran into a woman from my church, so we had a nice chat for a bit. Since we're still not doing in-house worship, we both agreed that we sorely miss it and really could use that back in our lives; Zoom services are okay, but it's really no comparison to the real thing. Hopefully we decide to go back to normal soon.

I have a confession to make. I did sperg a lot about COVID from the very start. I got myself banned from multiple forums, and made an ass of myself on here, and so forth. But the honest truth is that I was afraid.

My parents are in their sixties, in a susceptible age group. My coworkers and many of my IRL friends are older folks, too. Based on what I saw happening in Wuhan and the epidemiological reports I was seeing, I thought a couple million people were going to die in the US. I thought I was going to lose a lot of friends and family to this disease.

I am honestly relieved that it turned out to be less severe than I thought.
@Drain Todger - No hard feelings here, fam. This whole COVID thing has been a giant clusterfuck, and I think nearly all of us have been fearful or scared of something COVID-related at some point over the past six months. The fact you're willing to realize you sperged out too much and want to be more grounded moving forward says a lot and puts you one up on anyone who would rather double down on the sperg outs and ignore any sort of facts, logic, and reason.

Like you, I have parents and others in my circle who are in vulnerable categories. I also knew two people that died from COVID: one was a college classmate and another was someone I knew from a side hobby. When shit hits close to home, it tends to make someone more anxious. While I'm glad to see that COVID wasn't nearly as devastating as originally predicted, I'm frustrated by the lack of a clear timetable for my state -- and many others -- to eliminate restrictions as the rate of hospitalizations/deaths drop to negligible levels.

I certainly don't blame anyone for continuing to be uncertain the the face of the scientific community's utterly chaotic response as they grapple with their own deep-seated politicization.
It's very frustrating to see the experts not sharing the facts and data being used to justify extended lockdowns and dismissing any questions with a "Because I/we said so" reponse, and that's when they're not dismissing pointed questions and constructive criticism as being too political.

Guy was more concerned with "GFYS"-ing me over and over.
Cant even say tell me to go fuck myself properly. What a tool.
It's easier to call names and label someone than it is to offer any sort of logical or emotional refutation, unfortunately.

Mask laws and quarantines aren't about power. They're about something much, much stupider. Just like taking off your shoes at the airport, they're about Doing Something™.
It's a similar "Because we can" thing. I've seen airport luggage screeners run the luggage through the scanner a second or even a third time when there's no lines simply because they can do so and know that the person waiting can't complain without it looking bad for them.

The """"second wave"""" is basically them cracking the whip at the air to frighten us into submission.
I've heard people claim the second wave came in May -- conveniently right after most states started to open some signficant number of businesses back up. To hear talk of a second wave again now makes me wonder if they can keep their narrative story straight for a change. (:optimistic: , I know).

ASU President Michael Crow sent photos to the health department of alleged incidents that appear to show customers not abiding by face mask and social distancing guidelines.
This sounds more like the behavior of a tattle tale than someone truly concerned with public well-being.

Golish says guidelines can be confusing and feels businesses have been left to fend for themselves.
Conflicting information and directives have been one of the biggest frustrations out of all of this. As orders get revised, updated, or rescinded, it's not uncommon for there to be ambiguities and vague areas that leave normies scratching their heads as they figure out how to proceed to avoid the threatened penalties. Meanwhile, government officials have no sense of urgency to clarify these conflicting points and -- worst of all -- don't think to consider the unintended consequences of simply enacting order after order without regard for potential conflicts in terms of the laws being enacted and their enforcement.

I would recall this motherfucker if I live over there.
Unfortunately, there are plenty of lefties in New York that are perfectly fine being under lockdown until everyone gets a vaccine, so there's no chance of a recall. Although people are starting to finally realize what an asshole this guy is, but not nearly enough.
I've also seen Democrats that might not necessarily vote regularly come out of the woodwork to vote in support a fellow Democrat and against the recall. Also, it's worth reiterating that even in the event of a successful recall, there's no guarantees that the successor will be any better in terms of political ideology.

Believe this online school stuff is just crashing and burning, overall. Talked with son in TX this morning and he described the clusterfuck at grandson's school. These kids in 1-12 may need as much as two years to catch up.
From what I read today, Detroit Public Schools have only seen 78% of their students either attend in person classes or log into online lessons. It raises the question what happened to the other 22%? Sure, some of that number may be people without access to technology and a reluctance to attend in-person lessons, but how many are students simply playing hooky because their households don't prioritize education?

Added: I'll wait until a ChiCom Flu vaccine has proven itself to be safe before I get it. Have NO intention to die as someone's guinea pig.
I'll voluntarily take a flu shot for the first time this year before I'd even think about a COVID-19 vaccine that has been rushed into production without adequate testing and analysis.

Anyone else have a similar story?
I'm not sure if this is too much of a tangent, but I've had to order some items online and initial confirmation e-mails seem to have later than usual "promised delivery by" dates. I'm not sure how much of this is due to the fact packages delayed by COVID issues have priority over new deliveries by the shipping companies and USPS, but I suspect it's a factor to some degree.

Yesterday, ukgov (Boris in particular) insisted that there would not be another lockdown in this country, because it would be economically devastating. Today, with essentially no change in death rates or hospitalisations, ukgov is saying that it will probably have to lock down England for a few weeks, because consistency is for plebs and oiks. I'm fullyfully expecting to spend Christmas welded into my house, at this rate.

No, that's just someone who has no idea how landlords function. They probably think all landlords just inherit huge buildings and rent them out to make millions for free.

Sad thing is, people will applaud this. People are losing their minds over this.
If you ever want to see a man descend into covid derangement syndrome, just check out Piers Morgan's twitter. Man has become a complete sperg about corona.
