Nah, I wasn't quoting her being confused. She says she uses TWO of them. I was legit confused that there are fucking period trackers. Seems we have a tracker for everything, these days. Didn't think society would be dumbed down to the point that we'd need apps to tell women when their periods were expected to hit.

Women have been tracking their periods forever, far back enough that some of the notched bones we've found in archeological dig sites may be early period trackers as well. Some people, like Danielle here, probably do use it to let them know when their period is coming, but that's not the only reason they exist.

Spoiler: Other reasons spoilered because it's not necessarily about fatties

Other reasons include:

• If you're trying to get pregnant, and you aren't a woman who gets mittleschmertz, you can have the app figure out when you ovulate and when you're most fertile based on your period data
• Data collection over time so you don't have to track it in a notebook and do the math by hand like women had to previously (sometimes you can still find planners in thrift shops that have little notes in the calendar)
• Future projections. I may know when my next period will be, but do I know what day of the week it is likely come on in December off the top of my head? Nope.

Hate to “well actually” but period trackers are very fucking useful. Not sure if you’re of the lady persuasion not, but periods aren’t always clockwork, “every 28 days to the hour” regular, they can fluctuate by 2-3 days, earlier or later, which then throws off the next month’s arrival time by a few days, etc. So you start out at the beginning of the year getting it at the end of every month, but by the middle of the year it’s shifted to hitting towards the middle of every month.

And amazingly enough, even after years it can still sneak up on you if you live a busy life and just forget it’s coming up. I sure as hell don’t have a timer constantly counting down every 28 days, running in the background of my head, so that I can catch it before it starts and ruins my best pair of white capris in the middle of running errands.

It helps to have a tracker app so if you start getting massive headaches or nauseous, you flip that app open and say, “oh well looks like about two days til period starts, so that’s why I feel rubbish, no wonder.” And as NoReturn said, you can use the app to look ahead by months to see where it may land during a business trip or something important.

But this silicone grip tampon thing to combat obese women sweating is mad, I had no idea that was a thing.

If you look at the most vocal of them, their preferences usually lean towards “fit attractive people.” They applaud couples that are average man/huge woman. They thirstpost over celebrity hunks. They redraw Disney Princesses as fat, but they never redraw the respective princes as such.

What does my head in is the many, many FAs who state on their social media that “just because I’m fat, doesn’t mean I should have to settle for less! Stop telling me to settle! I DESERVE to be with someone wonderful!”

The implication there being that they are being told to settle for fat blokes instead of Chad Hardbody, and they consider fat men to be “less.” Not good enough. A few rungs down the ladder of acceptable.

In other words, the exact kind of mentality that they screech about when it’s directed at them. But it’s all right when they do it, because...er....male gaze privilege toxic masculinity internalized something. Even as a woman, I know this is rubbish.

They’re basically the lady version of an enormously fat bastard wearing a shirt that says “No Fat Chicks” on it. Or the incels who demand impossibly hot women see past their mangy exteriors to the Nice Guy within, but refuse to even consider dating a girl they deem below an “8.”
