Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has died at 87. - 🦀

Amy Coney Barrett.

This is the woman that was apparently floated around as a possible RBG replacement, she currently serves on the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals and was mentored by Antonin Scalia and apparently tends to follow his legal philosophy very closely. Before she was appointed a judge she was a law professor at Notre Dame.

It will probably be Neomi Rao. She's on the more prestigious DC Circuit and is a minority and jewish (married into it) + female. Amy Barrett will get bumped to Neomi Rao's seat on the DC Circuit.

MUST... POST.... CRABS!!!!!!!!

OHGODOHGODOHGODOHGOD

It's enough to make you want to stick your hand down your pants!!

I don't see how.

If they replace Ginsburg immediately, the Dems will be utterly defeated and turnout will go to hell.
Or it could fire them the fuck up to get out there and vote. I think they have to play this carefully. Ideally they appoint before November, but they set the precedent just 4 years ago why it can't happen. Will that matter to Mitch? Not at all, he's a pure politician, blows in the direction of the wind. They have the chance to tip the scales of justice in their favour for a decade at least now, or they can chance it that Ginsberg's death and the shitstorm from it won't boot voters to vote Biden, and possibly lose the election.

You all are delusional if you think Cocaine Mitch isn't going to ramrod in his favorite corporate whore. You won't get an overturning of Roe V. Wade or Oberfell V. Hodges, a strengthening of the 1st or 2nd amendment, but you better believe that any attempt at campaign finance reform or any laws that might help the working class is dead in the water. Yeah, the schadenfreude at the winemom cult's misery is fun, but be honest here. This is what the Republican Party is today.
Heard some company Mitch has the Chinese have a 40 percent stake in.

Whatever the case might be the democrats and their idpol bullshit is the first obstacle preventing any reforms beneficial to the everyday person.

One step at a time

But in all seriousness, this throws a wrench into the upcoming election. I honestly fear that any far-leftists and AnComs may vote blue for Biden if it means securing some progressive Boomer as a new Supreme Court justice, especially with Ginsberg's last wish to not be replaced until a new president is elected. Who knows at this point.

That is probably why she died

But that's exactly it.

If Trump confirms the SCOTUS justice now, they have fully lost. Their motivation will be utterly destroyed.

No, Trump can nominate someone immediately, But I'm betting McConnell wont move on it. There are enough wishy-washy RINOs to put it in danger of defeat. A quick confirmation would be unlikely to happen anyway. At least not as quickly as would make a difference to the vote. Trump can nominate the same person after 11/3, even if he loses.

So that didn't age well, I guess.
This isn't even funny, it's an example of how people have turned politicans into celebrities or worse, idols. How many books, toys, or fucking VOTIVE CANDLES of a woman who literally said the ruling on Roe V Wade was not that good? That doesn't fucking matter to these people, she was womyn who stand up to DRUMPF! Well until she couldn't stand because she was dying a horrid, slow death.

And for gods sake, SHE WAS 87 AND HAD CANCER. How much longer do these weeping tards think she had? Pancreatic cancer is one of the deadliest fucking types of cancer you can get and she was elderly!

Edit: She didn't rule on Roe V Wade, she did say she disagreed with it. My bad.

Not celebrating her death. I'm celebrating the fact that, once again, the left has proven to be complete identitarian morons who have been out of touch with reality for the past decade.

Their panic is what makes this hilarious.
Yeah, apart from John McCain, I'm not really one to celebrate a death. I can, however, appreciate the irony that this situation only exists because Ginsberg herself refused to retire. If not for the Democrats' ridiculous hubris and Ginsberg's adamant refusal to give up her seat, this entire situation could have been easily avoided and they could have had whatever Justice they chose sitting on the bench for a good 30+ years if they'd done it when the Democrats controlled both the House and the Senate.

I don't feel particularly bad about making this death political, though, considering that Ruth herself, with her dying breath made her own death political.

This is going to be a very, very noisy evening.

I'm more worried the PR war is going to be difficult for Republicans to win and that replacing Ginsburg will un-do the enthusiasm gap Democrats are currently dealing with.

That is something I honestly do worry about in all this. However, I do think getting the court slot filled as quickly as possible before the election might help defuse any potential boost of voter energy for the Democrats since the younger Dem base is more focused on RBG's slot in particular as opposed to the federal judiciary as a whole.

I think Amy Coney Barrett will be the one to replace RBG, which is why they had Kavanaugh be the one to replace Anthony Kennedy. Nominating a woman more or less preemptively sinks the #MeToo approach and it also allows the GOP to play the sexism card against the Democrats to win over the moderate suburban white Karens who might be a little uneasy at all the joggers and commie punks rioting and looting.

Given how slimy McConnell is, I think he'll go nuclear on this and try to get Amy on the bench as soon as possible so they can get this out of the way.

Getting it over with quickly and having a woman on the SCOTUS bench is more likely to reduce the potential RBG's death has to energize the vote against Trump
