Funimation are now openly censoring anime in their Blu-Ray releases.

Azur Lane is a very milqetoast waifu anime based on a mobile cashgrab game. Not exactly fanservice heavy, but they have now apparently decided they have the right to make permanent edits to the physical copies.

Bodes very poorly for anything else they've licensed (read: 90% of anime).

I want a va group similar to the ADV gang. No newbies and ppl like Alexis Tipton, Jad Saxton, Riccardo whatever his name is, etc. It would consist of people like Kira Vincent Davis, Tiffany Grant, Spike Spencer, Christine Auten, Molly Searcy, Chris Patton, Andy McAvin, Hillary Haag, Shelley Calene-Black, Maggie Flecknoe, Luci Christian, Allison Keith, Allison Sumral, Nancy Novotny, Vic, etc. The mainstays.

I think part of it might be Sony's woke antics but Funimation was pretty woke prior to the lawsuit and did similar antics with censored woke dubs. This probably just added fuel to the fire given how petulant and corrupt the Funi crew are

I can kind of see where Gradz is coming from. If you proclaimed your love for cartoon 12-year-olds getting fucked I probably wouldn't pick you for a babysitter.

And, while if you just randomly just shouted I HATE LOLI/PEDO in some random thread, I'd think it's an obvious case of virtue signalling to hide your own degeneracy. Apparently, though, there's loli boobs in azur lane so it's not completely out of left field.

It's mostly about the hypocrisy of it. It's already retarded to not separate fiction from reality, but censorship is bad, specifically when the same things haven't been censored before (Valkyrie Drive: Mermaid, Strike Witches, Ikkitousen, Queen's Blade, etc.), are also Funi shows & they're uncensored.

The issue comes from the selfish mindset of "Censorship is only ok if I don't like the thing that's being censored" when it should be more like "I don't like something that got censored, but that's fine & I will move on & not be a bitch about it".

However, that itself, while a very peaceful, is a very bad mindset, cause you just look like a consoomer who consooms censored shit served to it.

I can only assume that the contracts with licensees are flat-fee rather than per unit. Otherwise I'm sure their contracts would include clauses against editing the product in ways which are likely to decrease sales and increase piracy.

So Funimation has gone the route of 4kids with none of the charm (funi and 4kids did occasionally work together in the early 2000s). I'm not surprised at this point (last time I paid for a Funi product was 2009 so I guess I'm not missing much).

Funimation and Sony out here looking like they're trying to sucking the dicks of the Aussie Classification Board to earn brownie points.

Sucks to be them though, their own subsidiary (Animelab) already licensed (the non-bullcrap censorship) one and got it allowed (one of the only few good things the ACB has done).

The only times that I can recall Funi fixing their fuck ups was when they re-released Sankarea uncut after messing up the original release and with Re:Zero. Reviewers and fans were mad at the poor video quality, despite Funi PR saying that the bad quality was due to the masters that they were given. Knowing the show's popularity, they fixed it up immediately and did a mail in disc replacement. Other than that, they could give a fuck about their customers.
