Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has died at 87. - 🦀

I don't understand this sentiment that Yurtle the Turtle and Trump ramming through a confirmation will demoralize Democrats. This party and its pet media class have been normalizing the idea of either packing the court or impeaching Justices for the past 4 years, to the point even my normie BoomerDem parents are mentioning it. It's incredibly easy to spin a fast confirmation into a pro-turnout issue for the Dems on the ground of un-doing the appointment.
That's going to happen either way. Holding off a vote gives them an issue to effect change that may draw out otherwise turned off voters. Doing it fast means they've already lost and will be throwing a tantrum. Which attracts fewer voters, and pushes more normies towards Trump. It's really there is less damage doing it now. They will face some leftist energizing either way. Better to vote now even if it costs Collins.

They're obviously counting on their ignorance, because these children don't get that impeaching a Justice ("undoing the appointment") or packing the Court is so fucking difficult or even impossible (and can't be done on a totally partisan basis) that they're wasting their time.

Saying something is easy, actually doing it is hard.

Obama won 2008 in a landslide in part because he said the right things, and ultimately didn't do any of them. So did Clinton for that matter. And Dubya. This is standard campaigning.
None of them involved court-packing, however. Court-packing isn't exactly a high-ranking issue among most Americans.

I truly don't understand why any of the Justices want to stick around past their 80s especially if they're clearly doing so to support a side. Just retire. You are absolutely not indispensable.
There is a lot more to legal opinions than just "liberal" and "conservative" someone on the right side of that divide might come down on the wrong side on personal liberties, states' rights, government surveillance, corporate rights, victim's/defendant's rights, etc.

They can't impeach any justices just on a whim, you need 2/3rds for that.

I hope they don't try court packing, that will lead to an ever spiraling shit show that really would endanger democracy.

I just think it’s extremely funny how steam is coming out of the ears of the left over someone who died as a result of cancer. It’s not like there’s a reason for outrage, she wasn’t assassinated or anything extreme/politically motivated.

The modern left has a problem with nature and biology. Look at all the nonsense that feminists are always screeching about. If you remove all the emotion and buzzwords from them, it's just women being mad because they're not men. Trans are mad that they aren't wo/men. Blacks are mad that they aren't white. All things that cannot be changed and can only be changed if you use a very specific ideology that allows you to pretend that, indeed, you are a woman despite your penis. But beyond that, you cant' change nature in the way they expect or hope it can be changed.

The funny thing here is that most of these people are atheists. If they were, for example, Christians, they'd have a target to be mad at: God Because they don't believe in God, they've given society and nature the same attributes that they would give God. They're now mad at God Society Nature Death because RBG is dead.

Well said. I rarely use Twitter, but I decided to hop on today and see what was going on, because I knew this would be good. I mean, she died to caner and lived to 87, and I reckon she could’ve lived longer had the liberals not pushed her to not retire under Obama’s administration. All I’ve fucking seen on twitter are meltdowns and temper-tantrums, as per usual.

Like you pointed out, nominating another conservative to the SCOTUS will probably affect nothing. While RBG wished for there to be no replacement until Trump leaves office, I doubt this will happen, considering that this is an election year, and it’s important to have 9 justices because that’s just how many the SCOTUS should have.

I just think it’s extremely funny how steam is coming out of the ears of the left over someone who died as a result of cancer. It’s not like there’s a reason for outrage, she wasn’t assassinated or anything extreme/politically motivated. Obviously, it’s tragic that someone who, despite having differences with the republicans, died. She was a hard-working lady and I can respect that. But the fact that the left is making a giant deal over something that conservatives couldn’t control, and then trying to make it political is despicable. Like I said, she probably could’ve actually lived a bit longer had liberals not put pressure on her to not her retire.

They don't care about any of that shit. You really think we're just dealing with liberals anymore?

You can't gut the first and second amendments and property rights without the supreme court on your side. That's the kind of stuff they're really after, and they'll be thwarted for decades if a conservative replacement goes in for RBG.
