I don't live in a huge city, but it's big enough that I think violence surrounding the election is possible. Definitely, you would almost always prefer only cops to armed social workers or nurses, or social workers/nurses with police escort. Most medical and mental health staff are absolute shit at de-escalation, and face fewer consequences than cops if the situation goes south.
