I want it to be a gay PoC female conservative just for the resulting shitshow.

Oh fuck, if the Democrats surprise us and actually are dumb enough to try and give Rao or Lagosa the Brett Kavanaugh treatment then it can give Trump the ability to play the LGBT card and since it's a woman and not a man, they couldn't do the Kevin Spacey trick.

Well, that and the fact that Kevin Spacey was actually guilty of the shit he was accused of...

Again, I'm just not sure how that this affects the race that much. The people who worship Ginsberg were already going to vote Biden. This may motivate some of the liberals on the left, but it also causes Republicans to come home to Trump who were lost to him, like in Arizona and Florida. At best, it might siphon sycophant's money on the left, but I don't see this changing anyone's mind who wasn't already going to vote for their candidate.

I wonder how a pushed nomination would play with each voter. Would Dems be so blackpilled that they don't vote or rage to vote? Weren't they already mad? Too many situations. We should atleast let the body go cold before we jump to conclusions.
I concur. The people that care about this, and most who even know who Ginsburg was, are among the 60-70% of the electorate that are partisan and have been decided for years. I don't see this changing anything beyond convincing a few crazy bitches that are crying about abortion to get out and vote.

Besides, what I expect happens is the Senate drags it out as long as possible so nothing happens before 20 January, which renders this all moot anyway.

Or "Principled" independents will somehow think that rushing an appointment is bad for the country and start buying into the "Orange Tyrant destroying our institutions for short-term partisan gain" narrative.

This is one of those shitty kind of "damned if you, damned if you don't" situations, and while I would normally advise not to select a replacement this early due to how badly and easily it could backfire on him, not doing so could be even more disastrous for Trump.

Frankly, him selecting someone is much more of his sort of "I don't give a fuck", "high risk, high reward" style that's one of the reasons he even got elected, and managed to accomplish so much, and I think he should give that tactic just one last go.

It's paid off for him so far. Now let's see if it stays that way.

Or accuse her of doing what Amber Heard did. Even SJWs can see that as wrong in the right circumstances.

Lincoln Project is a perfect execution of identity politics. Appeal to the basest emotions of an identified class who feel at odds with some aspect of our system, juice them up, and squeeze out a profit. They're the perfect grifters, and anyone who sees anything else in them beyond their admittedly skillful vacuuming of wealth from NeverTrumpers is kidding themselves.
I've seen at least five older (40-60) people I either know IRL or through a Facebook group for something IRL (school, employer, local group, etc) mention the Lincoln Project as something they've been donating to to stop Trump. All of them are neolib or far-left types based on their other politisperging, and it's hard for me to imagine they have ever voted GOP for anything, nor have they claimed to have. They're obsessed with the idea of fracturing the GOP or something, and have made arguments that it's a very effective use of funds.

One even tried to volunteer with them, but found it challenging to get in actual contact. Eventually, they managed to get through on the phone, but it was to one of those law offices that does "here's your Delaware corporate address" type services. They took a message and said they would pass it on to their clients. Makes "Walk Away" look organic and grassroots.

I had previously thought Lincoln Project was some lolcow only known to the extremely online, but now it's screaming affinity fraud to me -- they've found a niche to cater to, but I'm not sure it's the Never Trumpers, if they even exist in any substantial numbers.

TL;DR the scam is selling a fantasy to the "so yeah, this argument wouldn't work on me, but maybe if I use it on you you'll do what I want" crowd and probably making bank.

PLEASE donate to McGrath. They've poured so much money into that seat that will never flip away from McConnell's vampiric hands, the only thing that could make it better is if even more money went into it.

What's great about that is recently opinions of Mitch increased by about 5% in polls of Kentucky voters, as of right now the polls show him with a 13% lead over her which is a pretty comfortable margin if it comes down to election time, polls are to be taken with a grain of salt though.

Also since Mitch has been a senator the closest he ever came to losing was 1990 to Harvey Sloane, a former mayor of Louisville, and he won with 4.4% of the vote, ever since then he's held on to his seat relatively easily.

This poll also shows that the economy is the prevailing issue for KY voters, with healthcare and law/order taking the next two slots, seems to be a prevailing trend that's shown nationwide too.

The left thinking they're in any way the arbiters of morality is just so revolting.

It really is a mental illness.

That's the modern left in a nutshell, they honestly and deeply believe they are the purveyors of morality and justness while conservatives are evil and always have secret diabolical motives to every action they take, it's what fuels such stark polarization, it amps up an unnecessary divide as has been shown by the past of Dems and Reps generally getting along while disagreeing on certain issues.

Trump's a crazy enough motherfucker to do it. He's probably also going to avoid Kavanaugh 2.0 by appointing a woman, maybe a WOC. Get a bit of extra hypocrisy in there to scare off moderate voters.

He picked Pence, I'm confident he can pick anyone with a clean(er) record.

The Dems can easily circle around the vagina issue, they'll simply have some black woman from 20 years ago come forward and accuse her of racism, even if said woman has a clean reputation and good judicial record.

Is nobody else concerned that it's now just accepted as a given that Supreme Court judges are a proxy for their party's interests rather than motivated by rule of law?

The USA now seems to be in an undeclared state of civil war.

EDIT: RIP to RBG.

The SCOTUS nominations became hot button after Ted Kennedy led the Dems to fuck over Robert Bork after he was nominated by President Reagan, after that things ramped up much more when it came to nominations, they just keep getting themselves stuck in needless situations because of their hubris first with Bork then with bringing in the nuclear option to shut down the Republican filibuster only to have it reversed on them once the Reps finally got power back.

Think of it this way.
1) If Trump delays, it becomes an electoral issue and WILL rile up the Democratic base.
If Trump proceeds, it can go one of two ways.
2A) Justice is chosen in October, and is close to (or fully) processed come November 3rd, Dems demoralised. No longer an electoral issue
2B) Justice chosen but hits delays, rejections, etc. Dem base riled up.

2B has potential for demoralisation too btw, overall attempting a nominee is heaps better than doing nothing. You think republican voters will appreciate their senators saying ''erm, no, you need to vote for us November before we move on this :)'' when they have a majority right now?
Going Option 2 may be seen as a faux pas, but only by hysterical journalists and twitter frens who hate Trump anyway. Sure, it could blow up in the GOP's face but Biden-Harris are gonna use this in their campaign if they do nothing. At least with Option 2 there's a chance to take the wind out of their sails. Trump is very lucky its the Senate who confirm justices and not the House, that's all I'll say.

You forgot this part of the equation: Antifa is already kicking and screaming about this nationwide. Spiking the ball with the nomination maybe will cause increasing amounts of riots, going along with Trump's law and order message.
:story:
Fuck it, push it real good.

Michigan, USA

Ingham County Clerk Barb Byrum claims that a toilet on a front lawn with a sign saying "Place Mail In Ballots Here" is illegal, and has reported said toilet to the police. In Michigan, "illegally taking possession of an absentee ballot is a felony punishable a maximum of 5 years in prison and a $1,000 fine." The police have said they will speak with the homeowner and will call Ms. Byrum afterwards.

This cunt is actually a long time cunt, go figure.

Tried to do one of those feminist "well if there are laws about getting tubes tied for women, the same should be in place for getting vasectomies!!!!one!" Also gung-ho about doing a recount in 2016, presumably because of TDS symptoms. She inherited her previously-held state rep position in Michigan from her mother. Wonder why she went from a state rep to a county clerk...

While the stunt itself isn't all that great, it's watching the reaction that makes it worth it.

It looks like term limits to me. Michigan state reps can only serve six years.
Also, credit where credit is due, at least she did something for small businesses. From the Wikipedia article: "Byrum is responsible for introducing the bill that later became Public Act 218 of 2008 which allows small distilleries to market and sell their distilled grain-based spirits onsite. Byrum worked closely with Kris Berglund, a Distinguished Professor of forestry and chemical engineering at Michigan State University."

I'm actually going to press X to doubt on Biden actually giving out a list of nominations.

He'll just say that "RBG has just passed and we are going to give her the respect she deserves." Or "we will focus on that after the election is won."

I already have crazy liberals on Facebook saying that Mitch McConnell is the worst scum alive because he's "not even waiting for her corpse to be cold."

There's really no reason or incentive for Biden to actually make a list yet.

Trump is holding rallies today.
Trump will probably show up at 7PM EST as usual.

Also, the brakes never stop on the Trump train. Biden pulls a lid and doesn't come out to play today (media can spin it into RBG mourning) and Trump is out here rallying.

EDIT: Orange Man Landed
