Lincoln Project is a perfect execution of identity politics. Appeal to the basest emotions of an identified class who feel at odds with some aspect of our system, juice them up, and squeeze out a profit. I've seen at least five older (40-60) people I either know IRL or through a Facebook group for something IRL (school, employer, local group, etc) mention the Lincoln Project as something they've been donating to to stop Trump. All of them are neolib or far-left types based on their other politisperging, and it's hard for me to imagine they have ever voted GOP for anything, nor have they claimed to have. They're obsessed with the idea of fracturing the GOP or something, and have made arguments that it's a very effective use of funds.

One even tried to volunteer with them, but found it challenging to get in actual contact. Eventually, they managed to get through on the phone, but it was to one of those law offices that does "here's your Delaware corporate address" type services. They took a message and said they would pass it on to their clients. Makes "Walk Away" look organic and grassroots.

I had previously thought Lincoln Project was some lolcow only known to the extremely online, but now it's screaming affinity fraud to me -- they've found a niche to cater to, but I'm not sure it's the Never Trumpers, if they even exist in any substantial numbers.

TL;DR the scam is selling a fantasy to the "so yeah, this argument wouldn't work on me, but maybe if I use it on you you'll do what I want" crowd and probably making bank.

What's great about that is recently opinions of Mitch increased by about 5% in polls of Kentucky voters, as of right now the polls show him with a 13% lead over her which is a pretty comfortable margin if it comes down to election time, polls are to be taken with a grain of salt though.

Also since Mitch has been a senator the closest he ever came to losing was 1990 to Harvey Sloane, a former mayor of Louisville, and he won with 4.4% of the vote, ever since then he's held on to his seat relatively easily.
