I want it to be a gay PoC female conservative just for the resulting shitshow.
I concur. The people that care about this, and most who even know who Ginsburg was, are among the 60-70% of the electorate that are partisan and have been decided for years. I don't see this changing anything beyond convincing a few crazy bitches that are crying about abortion to get out and vote.Again, I'm just not sure how that this affects the race that much. The people who worship Ginsberg were already going to vote Biden. This may motivate some of the liberals on the left, but it also causes Republicans to come home to Trump who were lost to him, like in Arizona and Florida. At best, it might siphon sycophant's money on the left, but I don't see this changing anyone's mind who wasn't already going to vote for their candidate.
I wonder how a pushed nomination would play with each voter. Would Dems be so blackpilled that they don't vote or rage to vote? Weren't they already mad? Too many situations. We should atleast let the body go cold before we jump to conclusions.
Or "Principled" independents will somehow think that rushing an appointment is bad for the country and start buying into the "Orange Tyrant destroying our institutions for short-term partisan gain" narrative.Again, I'm just not sure how that this affects the race that much. Or accuse her of doing what Amber Heard did. Even SJWs can see that as wrong in the right circumstances.Oh fuck, if the Democrats surprise us and actually are dumb enough to try and give Rao or Lagosa the Brett Kavanaugh treatment then it can give Trump the ability to play the LGBT card and since it's a woman and not a man, they couldn't do the Kevin Spacey trick.
Well, that and the fact that Kevin Spacey was actually guilty of the shit he was accused of...
I've seen at least five older (40-60) people I either know IRL or through a Facebook group for something IRL (school, employer, local group, etc) mention the Lincoln Project as something they've been donating to to stop Trump. All of them are neolib or far-left types based on their other politisperging, and it's hard for me to imagine they have ever voted GOP for anything, nor have they claimed to have. They're obsessed with the idea of fracturing the GOP or something, and have made arguments that it's a very effective use of funds.Lincoln Project is a perfect execution of identity politics. Appeal to the basest emotions of an identified class who feel at odds with some aspect of our system, juice them up, and squeeze out a profit. They're the perfect grifters, and anyone who sees anything else in them beyond their admittedly skillful vacuuming of wealth from NeverTrumpers is kidding themselves.
PLEASE donate to McGrath. They've poured so much money into that seat that will never flip away from McConnell's vampiric hands, the only thing that could make it better is if even more money went into it.
The left thinking they're in any way the arbiters of morality is just so revolting.
It really is a mental illness.
Trump's a crazy enough motherfucker to do it. He's probably also going to avoid Kavanaugh 2.0 by appointing a woman, maybe a WOC. Get a bit of extra hypocrisy in there to scare off moderate voters.
He picked Pence, I'm confident he can pick anyone with a clean(er) record.
Is nobody else concerned that it's now just accepted as a given that Supreme Court judges are a proxy for their party's interests rather than motivated by rule of law?
The USA now seems to be in an undeclared state of civil war.
EDIT: RIP to RBG.
Think of it this way. This is one of those shitty kind of "damned if you, damned if you don't" situations, and while I would normally advise not to select a replacement this early due to how badly and easily it could backfire on him, not doing so could be even more disastrous for Trump.
Frankly, him selecting someone is much more of his sort of "I don't give a fuck", "high risk, high reward" style that's one of the reasons he even got elected, and managed to accomplish so much, and I think he should give that tactic just one last go.
It's paid off for him so far. Now let's see if it stays that way.
You forgot this part of the equation: Antifa is already kicking and screaming about this nationwide. Spiking the ball with the nomination maybe will cause increasing amounts of riots, going along with Trump's law and order message.Think of it this way.
1) If Trump delays, it becomes an electoral issue and WILL rile up the Democratic base.
If Trump proceeds, it can go one of two ways.
2A) Justice is chosen in October, and is close to (or fully) processed come November 3rd, Dems demoralised. No longer an electoral issue
2B) Justice chosen but hits delays, rejections, etc. Dem base riled up.
2B has potential for demoralisation, but attempting a nominee is heaps better than doing nothing. You think republican voters will appreciate their senators saying ''erm, no, you need to vote for us November before we move on this'' when they have a majority right now?
Going Option 2 may be seen as a faux pas, but only by hysterical journalists and twitter frens who hate Trump anyway. Sure, it could blow up in the GOP's face but Biden-Harris are gonna use this in their campaign if they do nothing. At least with Option 2 there's a chance to take the wind out of their sails. Trump is very lucky its the Senate who confirm justices and not the House, that's all I'll say.
Michigan, USA
Ingham County Clerk Barb Byrum claims that a toilet on a front lawn with a sign saying "Place Mail In Ballots Here" is illegal, and has reported said toilet to the police. In Michigan, "illegally taking possession of an absentee ballot is a felony punishable a maximum of 5 years in prison and a $1,000 fine." The police have said they will speak with the homeowner and will call Ms. Byrum afterwards.

While the stunt itself isn't all that great, it's watching the reaction that makes it worth it.Michigan, USA

It looks like term limits to me. Michigan state reps can only serve six years.Wonder why she went from a state rep to a county clerk...
Trump will probably show up at 7PM EST as usual.Trump is holding rallies today.
