Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

It's the ongoing (and I believe unintentional) sabotage from Obama's 2008 campaign. He credited his victory to twitter/facebook activism (that wasn't why he won, I worked on that campaign and a) any Democrat could've beaten McCain, and b) we did a shitton of door knocking), and over the course of his administration any ground game experts in the DNC were slowly forced out in favor of analytics-obsessed Nate Silver clones and millennials who thought online activism was the real world. Obama took the few competents left with him after leaving office and it's left the DNC riddled with idiots who live in a bubble.

Also they have zero money after Clinton blew a billion dollars losing the election, which is why the talent is especially amateurish.

Well online activism was a major factor in Trumps election... the Problem of the DNC is that they think twatter matters. It doesnt. Boomer on facebook on the other hand do matter, they are legions and they vote...

They should probably just do it. I remember the “nuclear options” from the Obama years. The rules of decorum that would have kept them from doing it were broken years ago at this point. The seat is a dangerous piece to keep on the board, so you remove it.

I am going to disagree there; The Iraq war had dragged on too long with no clear goal and the economy had just crashed; Nominating the chief of neocons was probably the worst choice they could have made, assuming of course that they even wanted to win in the first place.
