If I had to guess, what I term "the Walls" came for him all at once.
Jake Gardner lived in Nebraska, he probably lived up until that very moment he was indicted believing he had a right to self defense especially since the DA Don Kleine originally declined to pursue charges.
In that moment his entire world was snapped by a system that decided he had to be sacrificed on the alter of "Black Lives" because his matters LESS.
This kind of realization creates a deep existential crisis and is very demoralizing. Then the Walls press in, hard.
That initial trucking by the Walls is bad enough when there is literally zero immediate or near future stakes given how slowly the Walls retreat.
I can't imagine what it's like when your freedom for the foreseeable future and everything you've worked for your entire life is on the line when the Walls come for you.

I may be off base, but basically zero companies are "inconvenienced" because they all cuck out immediately and tell their Vue designers to make everything black on the website and add a fist somewhere. Maybe a gay interstitial if they're feeling frisky.
And even those big enough to be colloquially considered a "company" which haven't cucked out really don't seem to be the worse for wear as few and far between as they may be. Givesendgo getting bounced by Discover is the biggest thing that comes to my mind.

From what I see there, he was well within his rights to open fire. He talked to them and tried to de-escalate the situation just like the leftists always bitch about, got attacked and opened fire on one of the assailants. And this happened in Nebraska, which is more fucked because you'd think that Nebraska would be safe from this retarded shit.
That's even more of a god damn shame, and all the more reason for good people to get the hell out of places like Portland and Seattle, and apparently Omaha. If you are accosted by a group, refuse to bend the knee, and have to use lethal means to defend yourself there, you are fucked and such a scenario is more likely to develop there than anywhere else.
