On a serious note though, I know we laugh about russ' ineptitude, but he honestly gives me a chill. I think under enough pressure, hes capable of more than just creeping out a woman like erika, or any of the insta girls he dm's.

Yeah, I just went through the posts from pages 144-156 and as you said the original link is broken, and the account that made the post is one that has been given a random username, although you can see their original name as someone quoted the post later. I don't think archiving in thread was a thing back then so it doesn't appear that it is backed up anywhere. But great to know at least it survives.

In the meantime, while awaiting approval from @sharshorita on posting it, another user or two took screencaps, so here they are so you can see the snappily attired Mr. Greer post-smackdown.

Did you post a link to an outside site (i.e. google drive, etc) or did you attach the actual PDF to a post? If the latter, Greer could send a DMCA to Null about it. If the former, he would need to contact the place where the book was actually hosted.

Null can (and has) also ignore a DMCA at will even if it's hosted here. He just loses the safe harbor protection at that point.

You do not give up a copyright and place a work in the public domain so easily. Someone can post something purposefully to the public (i.e. many news articles) without that giving everyone the legal right to reproduce or distribute it on their own site.

What I love about this, aside from the judge's undisguised disdain for Greer, is that Greer showed up 35 minutes late because he had the time of the hearing wrong by 30 minutes. That means he intended to be five minutes late for his hearing. Great work, Russ.

I'm also delighted by the way our legal professional keeps responding to the judge's questions not with, "Yes, your honor," or, "That's correct," but with, "Uhhh... I mean... yeah, uh-huh."

I remember someone who worked in the same building as Russell posted here, saying that on that day Russell took the day off of work but still came in to get the physical photo of him with Ariana, which he kept hanging at his desk even while claiming she discriminated against him and had her guards assault him. I'm guessing he kept it because he's just so desperate to have even the slightest connection to someone famous. It's pathetic, really.

Again, you do not lose copyright protections as a whole by accidentally or purposefully uploading a work, unless it is a claim made against the source to which you uploaded it. That's just not how it works. That it was freely available on Amazon does not mean everyone else can redistribute it. It is quite clear that Greer did not provide a copy free intended for distribution on kiwifarms.

The question of criticism gets at the heart of fair use but is only one of a multi-part test. There are some additional protections for libraries, archives, and the like but good luck convincing a court that applies here. Note what Rekieta does for his Greer streams- he didn't upload the book somewhere and tell people to read along, he created a transformative work not only by reading the book audibly but constantly commenting and criticizing the work. Someone wishing to simply read Greer's book would not find those streams to be a substitute.

If a TV network streams a show for free on its website it doesn't mean you can necessarily download it and then upload the entire thing to YOUR website for everyone else to see and say "this is for criticism, plz do not sue".
