She completely muddied the water about the car with lies, half-truths, omissions, contradictions, and deletions. The truth will never be known. We will also never know about Bibi's trip or his sister or the circumstances of their breakup.
She announced his trip first, got all broken up about it as if he were gone forever (it was a two week trip), and in the days leading up to it, she announced she was selling the car. At first, she suggested that it was for financial reasons, as if the payments were too high and she needed to get out. Then, she tried to play up the bright side, by saying (without enthusiasm) she will start walking everywhere and become a skinny legend. Then the car was "gone". She briefly appeared in a couple of episodes driving a different car (which she claimed belonged to the sister, but for several reasons not worth going into, this does not add up)
Then, she announced she had bought a new used car, which made little sense at the time. Selling a car you are upside-down on only to buy another car a month later is retarded; you're better off keeping the first one.
So none of this made any sense at the time. The problem with Chantal is that she is a lying sack of shit, and if you manage to see through the lies, she is a moron underneath. So, nothing ever makes sense with her, least of all developments in her life.
Shortly after getting her used Kia, she had her Psych Emerge crisis and was doped up on meds constantly. It was during this time that she scraped up her car (very severely; she did about a thousand dollars worth of damage) pulling into her assigned parking space.
At the time, she was panicked, and said "Bibi is gonna be soooooo mad..." She then admitted she had done the exact same thing with the last car, which she oddly referred to as "Bibi's car" even though she meant her old Toyota,
None of this explains anything, and all I have left is conjecture. This is all just my guess, take it for what it is worth:
I think Bibi put his foot down hard about the car after she smashed it up, or after getting choked out by stench and garbage. I am guessing it was in his name, as he may have qualified for a loan while she almost assuredly would not have. He probably told her to get her own car, and she whined about having no money to do so. Eventually, she realized she had no choice but get a car, and she pieced together enough money to buy a two-year-old Kia with 100,000 miles on it already and the check engine light on, probably the most stupid car she could buy. She bragged about this purchase for awhile, swore she would never eat in it, and pretty much spent the last two years using it for furtive food runs.
Even my spin has holes in the story, as does hers. So who knows the truth? That whole Bibi trip saga and his sister (who was going to stay with her while Bibi was gone and do Zoomba with her every day) have never been explained, and absolutely zero makes sense. There could certainly be a complete alternate story to this car, but nobody will ever know.
Whatever it was, Clotso was trying to hide multiple things right and left from the audience. That much was clear, even if nothing else is.
