Dance parties have been going on for a while. The "protest" on I-5 where the East African driver hit two people was actually a dance party. Both women were dancing immediately before the driver bore down on them.

Not sure about dancing, but the daytime "protests" in Portland have basically been festivals that devolve into harassment and violence at night.
