Remember when Microsoft bought Rare and then prevented them from doing anything outside re-releases/remakes and kinect bullshit especially since games like BK:Nuts'n'Bolts didn't do too well?
Anyone that thinks Microsoft is going to give Bethesda any better treatment than they did with Rare is
as fuck. This is the same company that keeps breaking their Windows OS with each new update. This is the same company that hyped up SSD's for their newest console like it's the newest hot shit when SSD's have been around years before. This is the same company that didn't give a shit about the warnings their programmers/engineers were giving them about the 360 and shipped them out anyway resulting in the RRoD fiasco because "OH DUUUUUUR compacting everything in a tiny space makes things overheat".

I'm just hoping they don't completely strip out mod support. They are one of the few big publishers who give out any sort of mod tools let alone any as robust.
I also hope arakne dosent become relegated into making shitty multiplayer games. I really don't want any of the studios to make nothing multiplayer games im just sick of them at this point.

I would be a bit scared if that happens though. Not because of new videogame IPs or some remasters of old IPs, that's fine. No, it's because of Yu-Gi-Oh!, the TCG. How would they handle it? That's my scary thought. There's already a bit of a problem because there are no tournaments (thanks, Covid). So a new company handling a TCG on the middle of a pandemic without being able to make analysis on the meta and on future releases sounds iffy to me.
EDIT: For clarification. I don't think Sony won't be competent enough to handle the TCG. It's more about the purchase resulting on a Upper Deck type of situation (basically, who can or cannot manufacture/distribute the trademarked product). I don't think that will happen, but you never know.

This shit is going to open up Pandora's box. Now, Sony has no reason NOT to aquire someone big. Say if its Capcom or Square, goodbye to multiplats like RE, DMC, FF, Neir, Dragon Quest, SF, Megaman, MH, and others because Sony wants them on their system only. Its going to lead to an outright consolidation war where noone wins in the end. If I can't play RE because of this down the line, I'm going to have a shitfit.

Sony had more critically acclaimed exclusives this gen than MS. I see no reason for Sony to even consider that route other than to be douches. MS has been more pro-consumer lately, which is working to their advantage.
Cross-play, cross-buy, Game Pass, backwards compatibility. All they need to do is make games other than Halo, Gears and Forza to attract a larger fanbase. So far, only Sony is doing that.

It all depends on if MS is okay with making their games on ps4 or not, which for some I think they are willing. Cuphead is on ps4 now and Psychonauts 2 is still planing on having a PS4 release as well. or as Last Stand said Sony already got a ton of exclusive companies under their belt, like didn't they just buy insomniac?
you don't have to do cross play if every game becomes an exclusive
