Why are all their insults food-related? I think it's because they're all fucking fat as hell.

Have you seen the anime merchandise they put out? Have you seen what weebs buy? There are a lot of a whales amongst anime consumers. I don't think whales could exist without inhaling food every breath. Hell, now that I think on it, I bet Senpai has a Nick Rekieta body pillow...

The big thing about Marchi's statement is pretty odd.
A friend of mine began looking into the claims and she's planning to do a reenactment of said event with some people she knows to test to see if Marchi's so-called story holds any water.
because my friend deduced that if Vic pulled her hair at the roots then not only would Marchi have slapped him or hit him then and there as having your hair on the back of your head or any place near you neck makes you want to kill someone because of how much it hurts. So Marchi cannot have gone into shock for a few seconds when it happened, the sensation automatically gives anyone an instant response of wanting to hurt said person engaging in such activity.
That'd be an excellent thing to bring up to a jury.

At this point, though, the only thing that matters is if Vic said "yes, I did exactly what Jamie Marchi described." If he said that, we get Lacoste v. Keemstar, where the plaintiff claims it's unlawful to call him a pedophile, when the plaintiff, in his filings, admitted to pedophilic acts.

If not, we have a conflict of facts, which allows Vic to continue past TCPA.

Don't know about you, but food names like Vic Lasagna or Nick Ricotta/Risotto make me laugh.

Several KV speds claimed that the owner of Bubbafest (who posted a meme about RBG's death on the con's fb page) was Vic's agent. Squally denies this.

A handful of people treated it as fact that the dude was Vic's manager. Guess I shouldn't be surprised they're deliberately spreading misinformation.

When it comes to what the dude posted: I do hate official con pages posting political shit, doesn't matter if it's right or left wing. It was stupid of Chris to post that on the official Bubbafest page.

At the same time, it's dumb that all of these speds are getting so worked up over this. If Trump died tomorrow, the same people that are getting worked up now would be happily posting memes about Trump's death and would celebrate it.

Trump, when he dies, will most likely shitpost the entire nation, somehow.

Trump, aka Orange Man, aka the Cheeto In Chief, memes us in life, and he will meme us in death.

It was stupid of Chris to post politics to Bubbafest, and some of his responses to the criticism have been cringey, but it's not relevant to Vic at all. And considering half or more of the other cons probably participated in the farce of online BLM at the very least, they don't really have any room to criticize. At least he hasn't jumped in to publicly defame one of his guests.

You know how everyone’s been complaining about Funimation addinginto their anime ever since that GamerGate line in Prison School? Well, the truth of the matter is that they’ve been doing it for much longer than that....

Some of you may remember that Funimation used to have the rights to Crayon Shin-Chan back in the late 2000’s. Since it aired on Adult Swim, the dub was radically altered to include raunchy adult humor and pop culture references. The characters themselves were changed a lot, too, to the point where they barely resembled their Japanese counterparts.

But one character in particular stuck out to me as kind of ominous in retrospect. One of Shin’s classmates, Kazama, was turned into “Georgie Herbert Walker Prescott III”. He was portrayed as a super conservative Republican, because, you know, Bush was still president at the time, and they’ve gotta make fun of him somehow. Keep in mind that this character is supposed to be a kindergartener.

Stuff like this is the reason why I can’t stand “gag dubs”, because they often allow for the dubbers’ true politics to sneak in.

I’ll say this: at least I found Ghost Stories to be funny.

At least with Shin-Chan, it was explicitly a dumb gag dub on the par of Ghost Stories and the gag dub aired on Adult Swim. Also, making fun of Dubya was par for the course of 2000's comedy as even with politics aside, Bush was a funny and "meme-able" president with tons of gaffes and a distinct speaking style

I remember watching that and enjoying it. I'll defend it in that it was clear to you what it was from the get-go; it was clear to anyone who bought into it that you weren't getting an accurate translation of the original product and Funi wasn't selling it as such.

Maybe it's counter-intuitive, but changing 80% of each episode of a show and making it clear to everyone that you've changed 80% is less dumb than changing nothing in an episode except removing four seconds of tits and adding a single throw-away joke about politics.

Hats off to Squally

What do you all think Ron ,KV and lawtwitter and the other faggots will do on the 22nd?
1) Increase attacks on Vic
2) Go private on twitter
3) Super Chimp Out
4) Go 17-0 non stop
5) Ron drops some new unseen "evidence" that will DESTROY Vic!

Im going with a super chimp out.

I expect Ron and KV and co to still freak out due to there wont be an instant decision on the 22nd.
6) The one you are all forgetting. Kiwifarms will get flooded with LawTwitter trolls again.

Frankly, Georgie was fairly tame, especially compared to what they would do today. They'd probably paint his hair gold and have him talk like Trump, or somehow mangle an episode into him oppressing Mexicans or some shit.

Ghost Stories is a gem that happened because the stars aligned just so between the Japanese Studio that owned it and the dub company that bought it. The fact that it's popular BECAUSE OF THE DUB is astounding to this day (mostly because it did so poorly in its home country when it was given all the tools to succeed during production).

I didn't know Shin-Chan was dubbed seeing as it's a show that would be hard to translate to a western audience. But I guess turning it into a parody dub is one way to do it. . .

No.
That's a long since debunked rumor. Ghost Stories' original Japanese version was fairly popular in its native country. It even got a rerun on TV a couple years back.

Ghost Stories, along with other anime licenses, was acquired in bulk by ADV. This is also partially the reason why they went under as they were overspending on licensing and ending up with many series they had no idea what to do with. Japan gives localization companies "free reign" so that their property can make money. This is why series like Ghost Stories can be butchered in the localization without Japan caring. So long as it makes money that's all they care about. ADV told Japanese licensees that the only way a violent show primarily about Japanese folklore aimed at kids was gonna be financial successful is if they did a gag dub aimed at an older audience. So the Japanese companies happily obliged.

Funimation wasn't even the first person to dub it into English.

Did B&H ever supply that optional summary brief to the appeals court? I saw funi did, I'm unaware of any other parties did.
