Depending on the production value that could definitely be the best thing they've done, but if it looks like shit it'll be great for entirely different reasons. The only way this could fail as entertainment is if everything is just mediocre enough to be watchable without being a trainwreck.

Promoting the show. It is going to be a battle royale but I think the thing they're going for is Vought International is making some fancy special....or something. That's what I can come up with.

EDIT: It could also be something that Amazon demanded as part of the promo deal: Amazon comes to DB about doing something to promote their show, and says they have to hit these things, and all DB wants on their end is complete control over the process (meaning that they decide who wins through their research and analysis).
