Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has died at 87. - 🦀

Maybe court justices should learn to retire before they become dinosaurs and spare the Left their freak outs.

Let's be clear about what's happening here: the Dems were all about vote by mail until today. Now are now telling everyone to go vote in person. They planned to send in fake ballots to force this to the Supreme Court, now there will be one more Conservative vote to get past. Their plan is wrecked.

Merrick Garland would be on the court if RGB retired at a reasonable age. It's that simple. Instead we get a shitton of hypocrisy and the Constitution is on trial from a bunch of career politicians turned Communists.

Unlikely it would have been him, he was thrown out there in an attempt to try and dissuade the Rs from blocking him because he was "one of theirs" (who was dead certain to "grow in office"). If Ginsberg had retired before the Rs took the Senate back, we'd have gotten Sotomayor 2.0.

Only one time in our history has a Supreme Court Justice been impeached and removed and that happened in 1805. No way the Democrats will get the 67 votes needed.
I can't remember the name of the justice or the president involved, but I was told in a law class way back when that a justice in the early-mid 20th century hated the standing president so much that he refused to retire when his medical conditions were well beyond dignified. He constantly fell asleep on the bench and would occasionally piss and shit himself, but he just refused to give someone he hated a SCOTUS appointment. I'm pretty sure he outlasted the president, too, but I'm running on a fragmented memory and google isn't helping. I'm sure one of the kiwi lawyers can drop names.

Oh the Democrats would have definitely went with the big nutjob. They were replacing the biggest conservative on the bench, no way in hell do they waste the chance to put some far leftist on the bench for some moderate like Garland.

Holmes? Can you be a bit more specific?

So I know as of this morning, it's 2/4 repub senators who've made gestures that they'll bomb any attempt at getting in a justice. It'll be curious to see if 2 more step up to it - I could only see this being a politically viable option in a purple state quickly becoming blue. Maybe someone will feel conviction and make their decision based on that, but I haven't known politicians to engage in that all too much.
No, that's only Lisa Murkowski. Here's my post from the Election 2020 thread discussing this,

Chuck Grassley - That comes from a 2018 statement where he said he would not vote for the nominee in 2020 (archive). Whenever or not circumstances will change remains to be seen. Voted "Yes" for Kavanaugh.

Susan Collins - Said she does not want the vote to come to the floor before the election (archive). She did not, however, reject the idea of Trump making a nomination before the election or reviewing the nominee through the Senate Judiciary Committee. What's more, she never said she would vote against the nominee if she had to vote on it, just that in fairness to the American people, they should hold off the vote until after the election. She also has a close election against Sara Gideon and voting "No" would kill her chances. She will most likely vote for the nominee anyway. Voted "Yes" for Kavanaugh.

Mitt Romney - Rumors has it that Romney would not vote for the nominee before it comes to the floor. However, he never said this (archive) and Romney's communicator director confirmed it. As he has never been in the Senate before, we have no idea what he may think of it but considering he voted to impeach Trump, my bet is on a "No".

Lisa Murkowski - Won't be voting for the nominee even though Ginsburg died (archive). She doesn't have a Senate election to worry about and chooses to double down on her position. Notably she was the only Republican to vote "Present" at Kavanaugh's confirmation. She will be voting "No" or "Present" if she wants to be especially limp.

I think we'll get Trump's nominee through, hopefully soon, but I'm not buying what Rooster says until I receive proof he has leaked things before. I also believe a possible confirmation will end up helping Trump since Barrett or Lagoa will likely side with him in case voting fraud becomes an issue.

Has Benny Johnson ever been reliable with leaks before? He seems like it but I'm putting X to doubt until someone can point out what he got right.
I'm pretty sure if he wanted to he could skip the Judiciary Committee and the actual hearing, since the point of the Judiciary Committee is just to give some kind of endorsement(or non endorsement) for the candidate when they head to the full Senate for the final confirmation vote. According to Lindsey Graham, it seems they are going to have some kind of formal process, but said all 11 Republicans in the Judiciary Committee will support the nominee.

Worth noting that Chuck Grassley is on the committee, which means he will be voting for Trump. I had suspicion that given his pro-Trump tweets that he would side with the upcoming nominee (be it Barrett or Lagoa) but this confirms it.

Are there any other RINOs we need to watch out for aside from Collins, Romney, and Murkowski? If not, then the vote is a done deal and we're just waiting for the confirmation. Please make it quick Trump.

Democrats going full 1950s boomer on Russia is just hilarious. Like yo, that is a specialty of the Republicans and they know how to do it properly. Like they suck at trying to hate on Russia.

Also I remember when Obama and rightfully so mocked Romney when he tried to fear monger about Russia and looks like they forgot all that.

I think the hatred of Russia is coming from Putin just making Obama look like a bitch ass pussy in Crimea and Syria. Russia might have a shitty economy and low GDP but they have no shortage of testosterone to get shit done.

We should never underestimate the patently illogical spite feckless Republicans are willing to display after John McCain. They'd rather stab their supposed party behind the back than challenge the Left.

Do you have a source for this about face ?

The justice that pissed and shit himself on the bench isn't specific enough? It wasn't in our curriculum, but was more of a side conversation with the professor.

I already acknowledged that a while ago to you, that those cunts exist and the only way to purge them, is for Donald Trump to win. Otherwise its back the uniparty system.

Finished watching that long ass Gettysburg movie. I realized two things.

That movie would never be made today given how it portrays the Confederacy.

And I hope the leftists's actions in the last couple of months are equivalent to Pickett's charge from the movie.

On a side note, charging with no artillery support was a brainlet move in hindsight. The only army in history that could pull off a victory in a Gettysburg scenario would be the Red Army of 1945.

Imagine going from the family of one of the most beloved and recognized presidents of all time to becoming a sniveling crybaby trying to destroy institutions because you have no power, got TDS, and can't get elected dog catcher in your home state.

Trump killed 3 political dynasties it turns out: the Bushes, the Clintons, and now, the Kennedys.
