Yes, what makes a woman a woman is mostly biological, but it's not completely related to their bodies and genetics. The "gender" part of it it's also biological. If you ask for gender not being a thing, or to be "deconstructed", then someone will reconstruct it back with new ideas.

Conservative religious fundies still have a real problem with priests raping kids, and enforcing that old farts get to go knocking up women in their late teens. A protected class, in a sexist country, with 'Fuck You' money.

Talk about 'privilege' . The only people this privileged are literally Royals. Even they must be jealous of her cash flow.
She can double-down, triple-down, say whatever views she wants. If someone shits in her cornflakes, she can hire a team of lawyers, or buy a controlling share of Twitter. Worst case scenario she can scream 'sexist!' or #MeToo somebody.

It must be incredible to be so powerful, and so protected.

I’ve read the book. There are no trans characters. The serial killer isn’t trans. The words “transgender” “transvestite” and “transsexual” do not appear once.
There is a brief mention on page 75 about the serial killer once wearing a wig and a woman’s coat to fool a victim. That’s it.

The book is actually about a solving the 40 year old mysterious disappearance of a female doctor. The serial killer the TRAs are pissing their knickers over is one possible suspect in her disappearance and probable murder.

It was an enjoyable, well plotted and characterised detective novel, if a bit over-long and with a fair wedge of unnecessary description. It’s not a 900 page tranny burn book.

The TRAs are such morons. Their shrieking about how terrible and transphobic the book is has made it sell faster than her previous Strike novel. They’ve succeeded in making their worst enemy vastly richer and more motivated than ever.

She's earned. You can dislike the lady, but she's worked fast to get that power and position.

I agree. Mostly.
However, some flaws in her ability or talent may have been filled in by other factors.
and now, some of these other factors have turned on her.

So, the equation has balanced.

I'm not reading 30 more pages of the thread but that was an okay plot point. It's both a callback to real-world folk beliefs and a critique of insufferable teenage rebels in shittier YA.
