I wonder if they're trying to subvert or reclaim 1980s culture since it was the decade of Ronald Reagan's presidency and increased conservatism compared to the previous decades, as well as the decline of communism with major events such as the Chernobyl disaster and fall of the Berlin Wall.

Given how much the woke Millennial beardos love to glomp onto Gen X nostalgia bait like She-Ra, Marvel, Star Wars, and Ghostbusters and then pretentiously "subvert expectations" to say nothing of BreadTube's aesthetics, that would explain a lot.

Really, the only thing that the American Left had going for them in the 80's was punk rock and the American wing of Antifa more or less emerged from the 80's punk scene. SJW's are also obsessed with punk and goth aesthetics but with punk it's a lot more sincere and less subversive

Really? Because many of them are White Knights for Anita Sarkeesian who is pretty much an anti-porn feminist & seem to support the SJW brand of sexual puritanism she helped codify & which views voluptuous female characters with bouncy titties as a sin & has gotten them, booth babes & cheerleaders banned. If anything, they should have been against Anita strongly & would've been onboard with GamerGate if they were really pro-porn.

Keep in mind that BreadTube largely formed after GamerGate ceased being relevant and is meant to be ostensibly a counter-movement to "alt-right pipelines" like GamerGate. Anita was already more or less canonized by the Woke Left before BreadTube really got going post-2016 so they had to be anti-GG to trigger the chuds and own the chuds.

BreadTube are AnComs and are extremely inconsistent and idiosyncratic even by AnCom standards

They fall into the pitfall of every shitty movement where they define themselves and their positions not positively, but negatively. Don't really know how to call it in English, but they don't define their positions through their own principles, but only out of spite to the chuds.
Chuds hate sex work? Say that sex work is real work. Chuds hate troons? Trans women are women. Chuds think Cuties is disgusting? That's just a crazy QAnon conspiracy theory. Also child porn is as ethical as buying a PC.

From what I remember, the name breadtube specifically was formed as a counter to "darktube".


You're right about post-2016 though, afaik back then there was essentially 3 groups that formed:
  • stupidpols - leftism without idpols with the typical: "I thought leftists were cringy, because idpol, but then I found stupidpol" reason
  • breadtubers - no comment.
  • "dirtbag left" - was a bridge between the three and tankies from what I understand it, breadtubers have slowly been throwing tankies under the bus to be more idpol/"policy" oriented

It was fun seeing "dirtbag" lefties having to backtrack since their "edgy" humor could offend trannies or minorities which was pretty tame to begin with.

Well I do find it rather strange that the "chuds"would be against porn & sex work considering that, in the minds of breadtubers anyway, they're mostly fratboy dudebro types. You know, the types who'd probably have a small library of porn mags & who spend most nights at a strip bar oogaling the strippers. Basically people like Brooks Heatherly. We all know what a massive coomer he is. Can't imagine him being opposed to porn & sex work. I can only imagine the classic stuffy old, suit-wearing, country-club attending, bible-thumping conservatives like Dennis Prager being opposed to porn & sex work (who former group hates just as much as left-wing anti-porn feminists) unless the latter group also count as "Chuds" as well.

Anti-porn feminists are from a different school of feminism than what breadtubers believe, they're a part of what's called "sex-positive" feminism

The problem with your statement is that Breadtube is "popular" in the sense that Youtube gives their channels more views and many of them have found the winning formula for bringing people towards their channels asking inane questions regarding Capitalism or "Fascism". It also helps that they have solid editing skills and put on a show with the more popular ones going to fuse entertainment with their philosophical screeds. I still don't know how Contrapoints or Philosophytube is so popular, but then again I guess I am not an impressionable teenager am I.

I would say they are a tad bit different than the skeptic community in the sense that there are a few breadtubers that take a step beyond ranting for 10min.
I.e. finding low hanging fruits to have a "debate", with the goal of increasing their political posture (and thus spread their political agenda & shekels).
Xanderhal is a good example of that.
