So something I'm still mildly curious about with the Taylor case - seems like the indicted officer was the one who fucking unloaded into some blinds that looked at him funny. But what's with some of the oddities of the case? They said no bodycams until suddenly, images came out that one of the guys had a bodycam on. An ambulance was on the scene before they went in, yet it leaves before they do? Why have Walker's charges been dropped? Why list Taylor's injuries as "none" in the aftermath?

Seems like for some of these, there's good enough explanations. Some still smack of bein' sketchy.

Heroin is essentially legal NOW for users. Where have you been the last 50 years? You could have the Wolfenstein version of "robot Nazis won WW2" in power and there would still be a thriving black market for drugs. The shit is too easy to make, transport and use. If you stand any hope, you can only try to reduce the demand by having an otherwise prosperous and functional society.

Free-ranging meth addicts is a bad idea. The drug erodes their ability to control themselves and they become a terror to the community.

Yup, we've done -- by hand, not some gay online database -- 3/4 of the family back to 1400s (a fucking huge number of people, because it doubles every generation going back), but my paternal grandfatherly branch, the one with the family name, disappears at 1699-1700. That's when his boat got here from England. But his name is nowhere on the ship's manifest. A lot of people who were "transported" decided on the boat to change their names for the new world. G-g-g-g-g-g-g-great Grandpa was apparently such a person. Which was both interesting and irritating to learn about.

Honestly, I think that definately is a story you can feel proud about. I don't see any reason, if you can trace your ancestry anyway, to not be proud of the fact your family not only survived, but eventually thrived.
In my eyes it puts things into perspective and makes you apperciate the legacy that is now on your own shoulders to continue; It gives purpose, at least for me anyway.
