I don't understand how we've gotten to a point where we allow news outlets to outright lie in the title of their articles and just accept it. From a quick skim, the two mentions of potentially bypassing masks is immediately preceded by:

Mr Morens cautioned that it was only one study that had not yet been peer-reviewed and “you don’t want to over-interpret what this means”. But the virus, he said, could potentially be responding - through mutations - to such interventions as hand-washing and social distancing.

The guy literally says "This is a single study that hasn't been peer-reviewed so you don't want to put too much credence in this", and this slimy media rag goes ahead and puts it as the fucking title anyway. And people wonder why the average person is trusting mainstream media less and less when all they do is fearmonger.

No, we don't have concrete numbers. The feds stated early on that anybody who dies with it, regardless of the actual cause, is counted as a death. Doesn't matter if they were in an automobile accident or fell off their roof.

Nobody knows shit about how viruses mutate or even what a virus is, that's what's been proven in the past 9 months. Because when people hear "the virus is mutating" they think it's some Pandemic 2 sort of shit where the virus now has enough points to evolve some lethal effect and kill everyone.

That's been the story of this thing since the beginning:

- It's a virus.
- You get it from hanging around other sick people.
- The best way to NOT get it is to not hang around sick people, and wash your hands before you stick your finger up your nose or whatever.
- Most people will fight it off, but it's sometimes worse in people who are already in poor health.

All of which has been presented as if it were stunning new information that nobody ever knew before. It's a goddamn clickbait virus.

Regardless of the article being shit and how much journalists need to be dragged out into the street and shot in my favorite game, Minecraft, it would sure be nice if people stopped acting like face masks are a talisman that wards off coronavirus.
