Well, like I said this belt is just for home defense to have something I can quickly throw on to have reloads and a secondary weapon to fall back on if needed. So it's not going to have a ton of stuff on it. Just the holster, mag carriers for the shotgun and pistol mags, possibly a handheld light in a pouch, and a little trauma kit. So the fact that the Masterfire holster doesn't cover the gun isn't a big deal in my eyes since the pistol will only be holstered when I'm practicing my draw and transitioning from shotgun to sidearm, and if anything does happen and I need to check it out. Otherwise the pistol will be in my pistol locker.
I'm going to be putting together a SHTF/worse case scenario loadout with a plate carrier and other load bearing gear, and I'll be putting together a different battle belt geared towards that role to go along with the plate carrier. That kit will be for carrying rifle mags instead of shotgun mags, and I'll be having a more traditional style custom Kydex holster for it that will protect my sidearm better. And the sidearm I'll be using for that loadout will be my H&K Mark 23 instead of my SIG P226. For concealed carry I prefer leather holsters as opposed to Kydex.
I have had drop leg rigs in the past with my old load out and know how to set them up. I'm right handed, so if I get the drop leg panel it'll be on my left thigh because it'll be carrying shotgun mags, and I'll only be going that direction if the mags are too large to ride comfortably on the belt. And I won't know that until I have the belt and mag carriers, which is still a ways down the road. Gotta buy things one item at a time as my money situation allows. Mortgage, bills, groceries, and other things for my family always take priority over anything else and whatever I have after the necessities are paid for gets saved up for whatever project I'm working on.
