I think this is more of a liberal thing than an outright commie thing. These laws are passed by people that want to work within the system. BLM, etc want to overthrow it. If they were a huge part of this I feel like they'd have let assaultive crimes be wiped out. Maybe I'm just trying to look on the bright side, I dunno.
Yeah, but the point is the attitudes persist. And I'd say, not even too long ago Trump, etc were cheering on Joe Arpiao. In no way is subjecting people merely accused of a crime to tough and uncomfortable treatment justice; Arpaio used this to deal with critics or people that pissed him off. He knew the court would throw out charges, but he still fucked with people's lives and would ruin their day/week. And that's what I mean by justice, we should be very tough on crime, but only for CRIME, and crime we ought to be tough on, crimes with a clear victim whose rights were violated by a perpetrator. Social stability needs law enforcement that the regular people feel like they are on their side. Now, this isn't all the sole fault of the right AT ALL, the left has massively exaggerated police abuse and usually outright lies about supposed police abuse cases, and in cases where heavy police force is used they only show when the accused/arrested party is black, leading to an abuse of the "availability heuristic" in human reasoning in order to make people afraid, all so they can try to take down Trump.
This irresponsible way of policing (combined with a focus on revenue generation through fines and speeding tickets) has set people off against the police and this helped allow BLM to thrive with "cops are targeting black people" conspiracy theories.
My beef isn't with the right intrinsically, it's the right wing boomer types that let the religious right control the Republican party and passed bad policies all the while doing nothing about good ones (like actually lowering taxes or protecting gun rights).
