Come one, Come all, watch a man continually try to justify his Sony hate boner
Its pretty dumb that in this video he implies Microsoft was doing well last generation. Its common knowledge that the PS4 made bank and kicked the shit out of the floundering xbone precisely because of its exclusives and hardware features not present on the xbone. Hell, the switch was doing better for the exact same reason. Hell, making PC and xbox exclusive games drove sales to steam and away from the xbone which is why Microsoft have been buying up these studios.
To imply otherwise would be beyond intellectually dishonest and just be outright lies. Not that danny boy is a stranger to lying his ass off to justify a strange obsessive hatred he has for some obscure target.
Not to mention the fact that he is now jumping right on the subscription model train after rightfully BTFO'ing Google for the same shit with Stadia, and the fact that this whole "streaming in games" thing is a gamble. It's far from a guarantee to actually work out.
Between the licensing fees that you have to pay third parties (and they're going to feel this 7.5 billion dollar purchase of Zenimax + the cost of rolling then into their business + the annual cost of expanding, changing or otherwise maintaining the resources that the purchase affords them), the opportunity cost of not selling 70 bucks a game and the cost of network maintenance, security, storage and processing required for streaming, the whole thing is a money sink. People working at Xbox have already admitted to that.
Ask Microsoft how many of those 15 million subscribers are actually paying the full per month rate as opposed to the dollar-for-3-years deal. If/when that shit is off the table, you'd be a fool to expect all of those people to stay on. Before remembering that the cost of this service will increase by a large percentage over the years, like every other streaming/subscription service.
Idk, is there a place the numbers for the last generation are posted? Microsoft isn't just xbox and if you include xbox + PC gaming like he is, his claim might be true.
Should be easy to find numbers to disprove his claim.
This is important to me since I'm deciding between a post or the new xbox.
PlayStation 4 has sold 113+ million units up to this point, as per Sony officially.
Microsoft stopped talking about Xbox One sales years ago, but NPD analysts and the like have indicated that they're hovering on the 50 million mark.
As for revenue, this is easily verifiable:
PlayStation netted 18.9 billion USD in 2019. Profits of over 2 billion.
Xbox revenue? Half of that. We've no idea what Microsoft's margins are for the division.
Baring in mind that Microsoft's final quarter is in June - so their numbers are taking into account 3 full months of COVID lockdowns.
