U.S. Riots of May 2020 over George Floyd and others - ITT: a bunch of faggots butthurt about worthless internet stickers

It's shit like that which reminds me I don't need organized religion to keep my faith.
The Catholic Church has become the Mayor Frey of Abrahamic religions. Demented old cuckold.
Catholicism does send people to hell, I use to not really see that until I started doing research on Christianity, it opened my eyes on how the way Catholics are told to worship is pure idol worship, and prayers to man rather than a relationship with God, and the belief in that sec is more inline with Worshiping Seramis (Nimrod's wife and the whore of Babylon) and her son Tammuz, in disguise as Mary and Jesus. People might disagree with this post, but I figured I'd put it out there since its something I've come across, I'm not meaning to attack anyones belief

There's a famous quote about a westerner being in Constantinople during one of their christological controversies and going from place to place where everyone, from the baker to the magistrate, had an opinion on Christ's nature/divinity. Looking back on it now, we think "this is crazy that everyone was so concerned about these minor aspects of religion and that it resulted in violence in many cases."

But these past months made me reappraise that notion. People now in America can each have an opinion on myopic topics like "systematic racism" or "patriarchal whiteness" which has led to actual violence in the streets. In a thousand years, will people look back and think "Those Americans in the 21st century were crazy, debating each other at all levels about minor topics of social relations that are based in overwrought ideas about society and skin color"?

They probably will. I was thinking more on the macro level. Most of the Catholic/Orthodox split was about politics, but there is some theology in there, some of which is incredibly tedious. Being protestant and also heavily influenced by G.K. Chesterton, I'm all about variations of Christian belief and healthy disagreements. Paul laid that out in Romans anyways. I'm all for discussing and arguing about the Hypostatic Union and all that, I just don't think we should excommunicating each other over it. That's part of how we ended up with Islam dominating the Levant, after all.

So what happens in another 10 years (give or take) when no one wants to be a police officer? Do we start conscripting people into service? Do we raise their pay (exact opposite of defunding them)?
The only semblance of Law & Order in the land will be private security contractors hired by upper class neighborhoods and business. The poor folk get to fend for themselves under the cycles of martial law and gangs ruling the streets. Of course, gun owners defending themselves against home invasions will still be arrested by the "community law" that enjoys a hefty payout from taxes.

There's still going to be kids & people who want to be cops, but it'll be for the wrong reasons; power, control, sadism, etc.... exactly what is being protested against now. They're going to end up with a police force that'll be just as corrupt & brutal as anything south of the border.

If these rioters think cops are bad now, it won't even take 10yrs. At the rate guys are taking early retirements or quitting.....

Well this vauge concept of police brutality will continue, but it will be black on black or hispanic on black. Whitey won't be involved anymore. The wealthier blacks in Detroit already have private security patrolling their neighborhoods. My only interaction with a police officer was with a black officer (I witnessed a beatdown outside of a bar). He was cool for the most part (knew I didn't do anything wrong) but aggressive in the same way a lot of cops are. If this weird subset of the black community thinks having all black officers in their neighborhoods is going to solve police brutality they are badly mistaken. The only person that gets more aggressive toward violence than a white officer is a black officer.

A guy I worked with back in 2010 or 2011 was trying hard to be a cop. Got rejected from every department and ended up becoming a guard in a jail.

Lo and behold I see on FB last week he got accepted by a department finally.

I'm not saying hes going to be awful or anything he wasn't a bad dude when I worked with him but it certainly made me think about how many cops must be retiring and just how few must be applying if they took a 10 year reject in his late 30s

That explanation makes no sense. I wouldn't expect much truth from an "independent" journalist in Portland.

"The right kind of asshole" is how I've heard good police candidates described. Someone who knows when to be a dick since the job means that you can't be nice all the time.

Also, interaction with police is one of those how you project yourself things. They are almost exclusively going to mirror back your attitude in your dealings with them. How people (of all races, but united in being douches) refuse to understand this is baffling to me. Then again, most people with cop problems have self-control issues and take all negative situations as a personal slight, so it's not entirely unexpected.

"Community law"? What? those wanna-be's? If there is even a semblance of resistance like one Kyle Rittenhouse they turn tail. Their only weapon would be "moral outrage" but no real fighting power (at least that is what I assume). Perhaps they would "dissapear" preferrably with a pair of cement shoes

Bad script, terrible acting, "buzzin' dozens", an amazing soundtrack, and a steamroller kill.

It's about everything you could ever want in a cheezy 80's movie.
The steamroller kill made me afraid to play little league baseball when I was a kid, I kept staring at the scoreboard waiting for a wild steamroller to appear and kill us all.

I love that movie so much.
