Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

I think the main reason why they're terrified of Florida re opening is because if there's no mass outbreak in Florida than the stupid mask shit and social distancing they love so much is exposed as complete nonsense.
Logically speaking, there will probably be a rise in cases in Florida because that's how viruses work. More people grouping up means more opportunities for the coof to spread. Even though the important numbers are hospitalizations and deaths, the media will no doubt go cuckoo nanners over the "surge" in Florida cases and use that to tar and feather DeSantis, who they're still pissed off at for beating the cokehead Andrew Gillum in the gubernatorial race. It doesn't matter if literally nobody dies from the Wu Flu because of the loosened restrictions; as long as there's some scary number they can run with, they will.

Aside from the power-tripping faggots, I think this is why a lot of political leaders have been hesitant to knock off the lockdowns. If they're the first ones to let up and there's suddenly a surge in cases, they're going to be pilloried by the media and labeled a mass murderer. Nobody wants that albatross around their neck, so everyone's just waiting for someone else to bite the bullet first, leading to paralysis across the board. In their minds, it's better to look like they're doing something, even if doing nothing was the better call.

The news about WuFlu gets weirder by the day.

2nd lockdown in UK cancelled because of party infighting???

LOL if true
I think some of the Labor bigwigs saw how the lockdown eviscerated the goodwill they garnered with Brexit, and are horrified that the prospect of a second lockdown would practically hand the Tories a victory in the next election. I can see them slapping and shaking Johnson while asking "What the fuck are you doing?!" in an attempt to save what remains of their reputation.

Maybe I have the names of the parties mixed up, I've never lived in Britain and don't have any desire to.

Some numbers on lockdown victims:
Deaths registered in England and Wales exceeded the 5-year average by almost 50 000 during the first 2 months of lockdown, which started on March 23, 2020.

Confirmed COVID-19 accounted for the majority of deaths; the remaining excess deaths (>12 000) could reflect undiagnosed COVID-19 or alternatively, deaths from unrelated conditions. Similarly, in the USA, only 65% of excess deaths during March and April, 2020, were attributed to COVID-19.

...

Of the 67 autopsies done at our hospital during the first 2 months of lockdown, only two autopsies identified COVID-19 that was undiagnosed before death. More frequently, reduced access to health-care systems associated with lockdown was identified as a probable contributory factor (six cases) or possible contributory factor (eight cases) to death. These causes included potentially preventable out-of-hospital deaths such as acute myocardial infarction and diabetic ketoacidosis, in which patients contacted the health services by telephone and were advised to self-isolate at home rather than attending hospital. Direct reference to financial or work pressures caused by COVID-19 was identified in three of ten cases of suicide.

Deaths from drug and alcohol misuse significantly increased during the lockdown period in comparison to the same period in 2018, but it was not possible to identify whether individual cases were influenced by COVID-19 movement restrictions.

Having a heart attack? Self-isolate, call us if it gets worse. Or just kill yourself.

Edit: Forgot source. Apparently this is from August but I just now saw it, rate me angry alarm clock.

Tories are the "conservatives". Labour are the commies. You're basically right, otherwise.

The latest bullshit re the ChiCom Flu situation in the county where we live.

CORONAVIRUS CASES MOVE LOWER BUT STILL EXCEED STATE THRESHOLD

This morning the County health department said it had confirmed 69 additional cases of coronavirus among county residents. Over the last seven days, there have been 404 new cases in the county, for an average of 12.4 per day per 100,000 residents. The state threshold is 7.0, and that has to be maintained for a minimum of two weeks before we can be considered for a move from the purple tier to the red tier of economic reopening.

Of the 404 cases over the last 7 days, 311 were in one city and the Valley and 46 were on the Peninsula, according to health department data.

The county also had three more coronavirus-related fatalities this week, bringing the total since the epidemic began to 72, or 156.5 per million residents. Click here to compare that to other places in the United States and around the world.

On Tuesday, the California Department of Public Health will release its latest coronavirus rating for the County, which will be derived from its own database and will officially determine our tier status for the next week. Tuesday's rating will be based on case totals from almost two weeks ago, when we had 563 — about 150 more than we had this week.

Nothing will change. The "governor" will just keep moving the goalposts to ensure the maximum amount of oppression for the maximum period. He'll keep doing this unless recalled. Have never seen a "governor" with such a hatred of the people of his state. Every family that suffers, every child that goes without because their parents aren't allowed to go to work - all that is on Nazi Newsom's hands. God's watching you, bud. Sure wouldn't want to be you when it's time to head for those pearly gates.

They said the thing about Georgia too, but when Kemp reopened the state after two weeks (*gasp* how dare elected officials stick to their promises!).
Then Georgia was memory holed.

Just the other day I saw some shit pop up on my timeline about how "ACKACHUALLY Georgia is doing terrible!" citing an NPR article with a misleading clickbaity title (archived) (because NPR is supposed to be the reliable one...)
Then I read the damn article and even in it they basically admit the large cities are still the overwhelming majority of ongoing COVID deaths, but the percentage of deaths from small towns is growing.
Some of those small towns that saw an increase were in the south, and that includes Georgia.

This means Georgia has failed, somehow, I guess?

The people who shared it are of the "humans are overpopulated!" crowd too.

It will never be exposed as nonsense. You'd think after Georgia did it people would think otherwise. You'd think after 4 months of non-stop "protesting" and packed funerals like John Lewis's that people would make the connection. But nope, they never will. What will happen is there will be a few weeks of hitpieces talking about how hospitals "are getting full" (they will never be "full" of course) and people are dying including young people and children alongside scary numbers and statistics with no context like "cases have now hit 3,000 a day, that's 25% higher than last week!" and then the story will die in the media because they've found the next outrage.

People keep wanting this to be some ultra-deadly virus that spreads faster and more covertly than any disease known to man and infects you with an agonizing death over two weeks as your lungs melt and immune system shuts down because it's airborne AIDS and if you survive you can barely breathe and probably will catch it again and die, but in reality it really is just the fucking flu bro.

What irony that the media is now reporting a spike of cases in New York after the governor "wrote" a book touting what a great job he did.

And anyone else noticed that cases are what's being covered now since hospitalizations and deaths are not as rampant? I guess they have keep the fear alive in some form.

Cuomo's book didn't aged it well it all, lol.

More irony, governor Ralph "Blackface" Northam and his wife caught corona-chan. https://www.americanthinker.com/blo..._blackface_coonman_northam_catches_covid.html ( https://archive.vn/S2lva )

Virginia's Gov. Ralph 'Blackface' 'Coonman' Northam catches COVID
By Pete McArdle
Bad news for Virginia Democrats: Gov. Ralph "Coonman" Northam and his wife Pam have tested positive for COVID-19.
For those unaware, "Coonman" was the sobriquet listed in Gov. Northam's medical school yearbook. Northam's yearbook entry also included a photo of two people at a costume party, one in blackface and one dressed in Ku Klux Klan regalia.
Now, the governor has admitted to being in the photo, but we don't know whether he was wearing the black make-up or the white hood.
If KKK hoods are in fact the governor's thing, they certainly didn't protect him from the Wuhan flu. As someone responsible for public health in Virginia, the guv should've known to wear an N-95 mask under his Klan hood!
Now, I know what Northam's excuse would be: it's hot enough under those damn hoods already without wearing a mask, too! Someone should send Northam some all-cotton pillowcases to try out, being as cotton breathes so much better than those polyester blends. Cotton-based fabric is also easier to cut with scissors when it's time to make holes for the eyes and mouth.
A case can likewise be made that Gov. Northam was the one wearing blackface in that yearbook photo. Democrats have pushed the notion that COVID-19 discriminates against minorities. Perhaps the governor and his missus were just relaxing one evening, wearing a little blackface and sipping gin and tonics on the veranda, and the coronavirus mistook them for minorities and attacked. It could in fact be a case of mistaken identity politics.
Regardless of whether Dr. and Mrs. Coonman...er, Northam got COVID-19 from Klan hoods or wearing blackface, the issue now is how best to treat them.
Treatment with hydroxychloroquine is definitely out because President Trump recommends it. The Democrat couple will simply have to go with a more expensive and much less effective drug regimen, thereby risking their lives.

It's worse than just the flu, but not catastrophically worse. It's probably exactly the disease they were hoping for: No threat to the working-age population, but a 10% bump in the death rate is noticeable enough for them to exploit.

I think the main reason why they're terrified of Florida re opening is because if there's no mass outbreak in Florida than the stupid mask shit and social distancing they love so much is exposed as complete nonsense.
The five months of nonstop rioting with no mass outbreaks have already exposed that.

The five months of nonstop rioting with no mass outbreaks have already exposed that.

That's what's enraged me about this whole thing. The rioters gets to basically run around and do whatever they want, and they are being encouraged to do so by the same people that point the finger in my face and tell me to stay the fuck home and demand that all businesses be shut down.

I won't say what state I live in, but we've been in Phase 2 or whatever, where several businesses have been allowed to open back up, albeit with required mask and social distancing rules. People were doom-mongering that everyone was going to die and I was called a moron for going back to the gym (despite me having 24/7 access and I go past midnight when no one is there and they require masks)! Well, we're several months into phase 2, and hospitalizations and deaths are down. Way down, and even new case numbers have shrunk considerably over that time.

Its getting to where even my most scared lefty friends are starting to call me again asking to hang out, lol.

It's worse than the flu(s) this year.

See "The" Flu is 3 different species with multiple strains running around, but each is dealt a weaker hand than COVID. The Flu's are already facing some level of herd-immunity (a combo of natural & vaccine-induced), and each have already evolved less-lethal forms to optimize spread. What we are seeing with the flu(s) is a year-50 to year-100 level wave. These have been with us for multiple human generations.

COVID doesn't have all that. COVID is right now acting with a baseline lethality against virtually no preset herd immunity. This year and maybe up to the next 2 years will basically be COVID-19's "high score" for which it will never again surpass. Contrary to what the tenured PhD's who play Plague Inc. would have you believe, each new year COVID will get less and less lethal, as viruses actually want to evolve less lethality because it optimizes spread/survival.

The fact that people are still terrified of spreading the virus through surface touch is really exceptional. Stop sanitizing your groceries and packages. The fact anyone ever did that is ludicrous.

You know what's even more exceptional? People thinking that bleach isn't enough and they try mixing various disinfectants like some wacky scientist that cause a chemical reaction that poisons them.
