Waids gotta be running low on Gofundme cash pretty fucking soon, at some point this is going to actually cost him money. That's the real come to Jesus Moment that I am looking forward to.

Rumor on the street is that Waid's got Grant Morrison trying to get him back in at DC Comics now that Bob Harras and Dan DiDio are gone. Story goes, Grant is trying to get Waid to take over Green Lantern next year when Grant ends his run, as well as rumors that Waid may be conniving the new top brass to give him Superman and card blanche to finally nuke from orbit the entire Post-Crisis lore and incarnations of Superman, Luthor, Lois, etc and replace them with the pre-Crisis Silver Age status quo.

Didio and Harras were the two biggest reasons for Waid being banned from DC and now that they are gone, Waid could conceivably finally stop working for Marvel (which is like being stuck in purgatory for him, as he is mainly a DC fanboy) and "go home" at long last. The only issue is, will AT&T allow Waid back given how much damage goods he is? Let alone at a salary that someone like Waid would expect/demand to help him fund his lawsuit? Or would him coming back (and getting his dream gig) also require him bending the knee and settling with Richard simply to make it go away before they give him any major high profile assignments?

I sincerely doubt they'd bring him back for anything more than a stunt run. I mean I know there's been some bad corporate decisions made in the past, but letting someone that's still in the middle of a lawsuit where he threw around the company's name as if it were his own come back and basically run the whole damn show, and not only boot out their last reset (which they've been desperately claiming they're not going to dump since it would be a massive loss of face) but all the prior ones and turn it back into the cheesy nonsense that their own comics and movies have generally been making fun of?

I mean, I'm not saying it can't happen. Dumber decisions have been made for sure. It just seems a real stretch. As far as I know DC isn't struggling nearly as badly as Marvel is, they just don't seem that desperate for a "DO SOMETHING!" stunt like that.

Well, he's coming back in with DC starting this December. Looks like he'll be writing something for Snyder's edgelord Death Metal event that never ends. There has been speculation from the comic bloggers that he could get Superman with Bendis on the way out. So I'm getting the sense that all of this way pretty on the nose. Given that they're also bringing in Maggs Visaggio to write his standard lesbian fapfic, I'm thinking that Waid's clique in the company are trying to circle the wagons around him for whatever reason.

Judge Lee Yeakel will no longer be preceding over the lawsuit. It has been transferred to David A. Ezra.

A possible reason for this is suggested by his Wikipedia article.

"David Alan Ezra (born 1947) is a Senior United States District Judge of the United States District Court for the District of Hawaii. Since January, 2013, Ezra has been designated by the Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court to the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas, San Antonio Division, to help ease the heavy workload for the federal judges in Texas.[1]"

The reference, sans citation: "[1] Since taking senior status, Ezra has sat with the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas[.]"

He's senior status, but only 73. Judge Yeakel hasn't done anything particularly substantive with the case in any event, with the magistrate taking care of the heavy lifting so far.

Or this is the first step of this case becoming Comicsgate's very own Jarndyce v. Jarndyce.

Does Judge Erza have any experience with defamation lawsuits (or ones with Tortious Interference)?

He's not just thoughtlessly stepping up the trial date, he's also stepping up motions in limine and responses thereto. This is interesting. I fully expect discovery disputes to delay this, though, as one or both parties refuse to comply with anything at all.

Discovery is done as per the scheduling order from the 1st judge. (He was replaced a month after the deadline passed)

The parties shall complete discovery on or before August 28, 2020. Counsel may, by agreement, continue discovery beyond the deadline, but there will be no intervention by the Court except in extraordinary circumstances, and no trial setting will be vacated because of information obtained in post-deadline discovery.

One other date to keep an eye on is November 27th, the deadline for Waid to file a TCPA motion, which his lawyer said he couldn't do at present in federal court, but wanted to keep the option open in case that changed.

Just wondering, if, say Waid says fuck you and abuses discovery by not handing over anything. Does this fall under extraordinary circumstances, or is it assumed shit like that would be resolved by the court prior to the deadline?

How much gas does Waid have in the GFM tank? This is literally Put up or Shut up time. I suppose I should look at his social media to see if he's e-begging like Akilah did because this is when Law Bills start really adding up. Motion Practice, Discovery Abuse that's totally going to happen, Depos are mostly done, but god All the work that goes into Jury work. If Waid actually has Money all they are doing is like seeing Dolla Dolla Bill yo!

Good Fucking luck you fat pasty worthless piece of shit Waid. For Once in your goddamn life, be an actual Man, and Apologize. (Also hand over a fat bag of cash to Ya Boi)

So discovery has been completed?
