SCP Foundation - Creepypasta with roid rage - now ITT: SCP fans

Something else to note is he blatantly inserted himself as a character “DR Bright.” And yes, that does include the meme fic “Things DR bright is no longer allowed to do.” Which does include many things of this nature
He also seems like the type of person to feed SCP-682 the entire jar of SCP-686 to see what Islamic results it gives.

Or draw it with tits
You just had to ask that.

You can always tell when someone is gender-special-ing as a fetish, especially when the first thing he talks about is being "kinky."

He's a gross, fat, old pervert who thinks adopting SWJ buzzwords will have him drowning in young, pirate puss. He's probably the type to pressure underage girls into drinking then invite them back to his quarters.

The thing is, the "Dr. Bright" character was actually kinda funny. I don't recall if there were any SJW shit on the list. There is more than a few things on it they'd now consider "problematic." I do note they have locked it from any further additions and added a disclaimer.

This is the problem with KF sometimes. You get to see how the sausage is made, and who makes it. Then you're put off from eating the sausage anymore. I know SCP went retarded a long time ago, but now you are seeing that even some of the old shit is connected to disgusting people.

Apologies for necroposting dump but I’m going back and reading all this goodness.
Kaktus seemed to think it was already Shadow the Hedgehog. We're talking about a guy who hated the original article so much he made this.
So the guy who hated the original 049 was the one who rewrote it? Seems like an odd choice. I guess not for ppl trying to shed their origins though. Classic liberalism; throw the baby out with the bath water in the name of progress.

I also remembered this piece of shit tale that takes the lead of this rewrite in declawing 049 into basically being a little bitch. It re—approaches 049 from the angle of the site’s “oh hey death died” cannon, which is max edgelord cringe and there’s a reason that idea shows up in Family Guy first. The tale also features our regular taylor_itkin’s super researcher doctor self-insert. 🤦🏻‍♂️

From badass killer plague doctor to whiney little feefee surgical consultant. What they did with this character is telling and a perfect metaphor for what happened to the whole site.

The SCP fiction was tolerable when it was about SCP agents dealing with threats and the like instead of these annoying cutesy fluffy-wuffy pieces about the "whimsical" adventures or origins of some authors Mary Sue researcher, that really sort of overly-forced twee bullshit. As well as the worst sort of LOL RANDOM humor that was always a problem with the site but had mostly been kept to a minium...for a while.

TL;DR Clef is now an uwu abuse victim and the page is so fricking long because the regular SCP writing format is "TOO RESTRICTIVE"

The dissipation of the contrast between SCPs and tales, like turning straight up monstrous villains into soap opera level emotional character arcs, means you’ve robbed the site of its defining characteristic, which was the challenge of a cold clinical tone of documents doing the heavy lifting. The novelty and value of the site was this challenge, which by definition had to start over from the elements and freedoms available in traditional story telling.

The history of the site is the influx of self-indulgent bloggers who’ve made writing for the site easier and the product less unique. The skill and finesse in the early articles is lightyears ahead of the new stuff but those new articles’ authors can’t take the ego hit of thinking they are at the forefront of a devolution, so they like to claim that the newer ones aren’t as widely appreciated because they are more sophisticated with things like narrative. No, you guys just lost your way and are too progressive to admit things used to be better.

It might actually be an okay idea if it didn't just come off as yet another attempt to inject identity into literally everything.
This reminds me of this article which is about an Foundation employee who ends up helping the anomaly she is assigned to transition to its “correct gender” as part of the containment protocols or some shit. Yes we all knew the Foundation has transition specialists, but not just for employees now, for the anomalies too. It should be painfully obvious that this article is successful because of the identity pandering and not due to its actual merits. Any writer worth his weight in salt would avoid writing about something like this because it is essentially short circuiting the writing process. The author applies this cheat code in the first words of the article where they broadcast that it’s about gender dysphoria and SYSTEMATIC RAYYCISMS, as if that’s a trigger point that needs priming for this bunch. No, this is not a content warning, it’s an invocation of the ol privilege stack and a reminder of the contractual support that the oppression Olympics guarantee what follows.

Look at the replies to the pinned comment of this video. Literally anyone not a tankie assumed this is about communism. :story:
I just read the 3003 article. Now I’m going to go yell at the sky to protest natural selection.

What’s funny to me is that the evil colonists in this story actually do solve all the world issues idealist commies like to complain about, are a Type II on the Kardashev scale that would fuck up the Type I commie stand-ins at a moments’s notice, and the only counter-argument offered against it from a commie is “ew gross”.

By the way, while we’re here, compare the actual writing quality of these 3000 contest runner ups (not their retarded political messages) with the recent 5000 ones... 3003 vs what... “Sacrosanct”? Yikes... The adolescent voting base will ensure that a Dan Brown movie formula piece like the current 3000 will be valued over something with impressive writing like 3001 or this 3003.

Say what you want about Scantron/CWW, he was 100 times the writer of the site‘s current icons like djkuck or flounderhouse and it isn’t even close. Opportunist authors like those stay successful by chasing other people’s tastes well, and that’s the real writing education you get there.

At least Scantron had something to die for and survived on his writing skill. All that’s left are a privileged classes of sterile political identities and their soap boxes.
Watching this thread transform from Series 1 love with the occasional new article in there into where we are now is a delicious Rx of red pills.

Why is there a fucking content warning in a website that is literally all about body horror, murder, people being considered disposable, and horror?

Now there's a narrative that if you like Series 1 you're evil and not a true fan :story:
Yeah you can like it for anecdotal reasons but you can only rarely like those same qualities in a new article... when it’s written by a cool kid.

That reminds me, I forgot about this part: they claim that Series 1 style stuff is tired because you can only do so much with it. “It’s been done, we’ve gotten enough of that after a thousand skips of it.”

Well the same can be said of a narrative heavy style, when is that going to get old? They’re several thousand more articles past the supposed depletion of originality in the first style. It’s just as challenging to come up with something good in the old style as it is in the new. There’s zero chance an old style article would get through the green light process without having a character and plot grafted onto it by others. You’d have to coldpost, and you can really only get away with that, esp with a series 1 style, if you are well known and well liked.

The reason the narrative style persists despite meeting every criticism they have for the old style is because they need to progress. They are liberals so it’s down with the old even if it might still have merit. Also, the focus of the old style is the anomaly itself and technical writing, and the bloggers turned writers would rather write purple prose about self-inserts.

Plus every new article is SO. FUCKING. LOOOOOOONG.

I’ve seen plenty would-be articles that are good reads, more interesting than blowing smoke up the site’s ass, and these are rejected because “it feels too short, where muh plot?”

I’m not bashing stories with emotionally-involved characters, but that’s all SCP accepts now. On the other end, take something like RPC-002. It’s “just a thing that does a thing”, a classic duo of an interesting object + raising the stakes to a containment breach/incident. But it’s technically worded masterfully and interesting as fuck without relying on the cringey and lazy indulgences that define every other fanfic site on the internet. This type of prose is a sin to SCP, but it’s what made them popular. SCP is incapable of this now, they threw the baby out with the bath water. They’ve prioritized self-coddling over criticism and fattened themselves up on their marshmallowey feefees. But they still suckle off that tit while thinking themselves above it to this day.

I greatly prefer RPC mainly because the mythos is still under wraps to a point as in everything isn't obsessively backgrounded. SCP has been exhaustively autistic to the point where there's a million gay ass "tales" that read like babby's first writing project for middle school English for every character, SPC, Janitor, and mail clerk. The whole thing was supposed to feel like you were looking at something you weren't supposed to and SPC is transparently tumblr everyone is welcome unless you don't agree with the narrative and think pedophilia is bad shit. It's mildly offensive that they destroyed the site with this shit and have the audacity to claim the people who got fucked over are the ones who did it, but I guess that's just normal "progressive" behavior.

Why would they have plot? They're supposed to be descriptions of dangerous objects and the procedures to contain them, created by a bureaucracy for the use of the functionaries of that bureaucracy, and providing only as much data as necessary for the functionaries to do their jobs. It's like these dumb fuck troon furfag idiots don't even know the point of SPCs.

The closest thing to a "plot" that the earlier entries had was the Dr. Wondertainment chain of SCPs and the Factory. Maybe the Scarlett King. But at least they still had a mysterious aspect behind them that made them interesting.

Now Dr. Wondertainment's a waifu or something

So basically the cancer that took over the weird curating of /x/ copypastas turned into what ran the site.

Fairly typical for >current year

Personally, I actually kind of like the testing logs and interviews. Makes it feel more like a scientific organization trying to understand the weird shit they work with. That said, I wish there would be less use of those components to make cute stories instead of dealing with the horrible shit that happened to find out what a Skip is capable of.

You should take a look at the RPC Lore Server, it is indeed autistically and obsessively backgrounded to an extent, except that there is still a semblance of quality control about what gets published or not 🌈

This is basically what helped fill in the blanks left by the cold, sterile narration on the body of the article. You can still find this in a few SCP articles and a good chunk of the RPC ones. A good rule of thumb is to avoid "Interview logs" those frequently mean the article will suck.
