That is the very definition of restorative justice. Victims have to sit with the perp and listen to their sob story and forgive them so the “community can heal,” is so a guy who raped his girlfriend’s 12-yo daughter can be let out of prison where he can continue to not pay child support for his eight kids. I mean, hell, let's hope so. I'm surprised it hasn't already happened. Didn't Portland [and maybe Seattle?] bar their departments and sheriff's office from using tear gas and other crowd control munitions? Well, chokeholds are out because those are scary and "I CAN'T BREEF" despite sucking wind just fine to yell at the cops, tasers are out because they're totally dangerous [until Rayshard Brooks grabs one from a cop, then it's like throwing a pea or something and no excuse for him to be killed], firehoses are out because "dats wacist because you used them last time we tried to burn down the city in the 60s". Tear gas/CS is obviously out because "MUH GENEVA CONVENTION" or whatever, which does not apply to non-combatants and especially does not apply in peace time.

If the local government weren't so terminally retarded they would surely realize that the myriad of less-lethal methods of clearing crowds or stopping assailants are good things, that these munitions and methods are a good way for police to do their job and maintain order without resorting to their firearm. But as usual, tankies have no concept of cause and effect, so they just "ban everything" and expect it to work out just fine, damn the consequences.

Not to mention, there are a lot more women that are police officers too now, and without less-lethal techniques and munitions, they are even more likely to use their side-arm when dealing with a pissed off suspect who likely outweighs them by a hundred pounds or more and is fried on PCP. They simply don't have the brute force necessary to take down and restrain most suspects and when you take away all of the fancy less-lethal toys, basically the only option you leave them with is to get brutalized and possibly fucking die, or use their sidearm to neutralize the threat.

Basically: Portland mayor big stupid, not understand consequences of poor decisions.

It's a HUGE deal to accuse a tranny of anything bad in these circles, even something relatively benign like theft. The Democrats are clearly trying to backpedal on this, Biden and Pelosi have spoken against it. But how much of a downturn has there really been? Things seemed to die down before Rayshard Brooks, and then before Kenosha, and recently before the Breonna Taylor ruling. Antifa has a fairly solid organizational backbone with grifts that are fueled by their activities. The powers that be obviously want them to go away but they're not going to leave the stage unless they're forced to.

The theory that China's backing them makes sense in this light; if they were purely Democrat puppets I'd expect that they could shut them down overnight, but they seem to have some other source of support.

That's what I've been thinking this entire time and if it does happen, it's going to be an absolute shitshow. When you've got massive crowds of people in the street and the police might not necessarily be at that location, that has to look appealing to some batshit Brenton Tarrant wanna-be with an AR and too much time on his hands. Even if the perp wasn't on the right, I certainly wouldn't put it past the media to come up with some dirt or even fabricate whatever they need to get their narrative spun up.
