I'll take the bait for a laugh. Do we know if he's been using medication for his allergies lately? If he's got into the habit of using anti-histamines on a regular basis, it could be drying out and backing up his sinuses for days at a time. He could actually have chronic sinusitis as I'm not sure he's ever actually done anything but self-diagnose his post nasal drip. Anyway point is we know he's used to endless drainage with his nasal gout juice in snortastic full flow down the back of his throat (
) and you don't have to be an ENT specialist to know that issues between ears, nose and throat can be linked to one another.
These ear infections as he likes to call them could be bouts of (temporary) eustachian tube dysfunction in the middle ear. Typically full blown ear infections can be very painful wheras ETD causes general discomfort and difficulty hearing but isn't usually accompanied by high temperature, dizziness, nausea etc. Neither condition will clear up miraculously in 24 hours regardless but Phil being Phil, if he was dealing with fullblown ear infections they'd preclude his babyman streams for days I'm quite sure.
Dust that hovel you call a work environment. Switch on your fat and overpriced air purifier. Stop eating anti-histamines like skittles. Break your autistic desire to keep Q-tipping because it's actually not good for you. Job done. Maybe.
