Details: The debate will be 90 minutes long and have no commercial breaks. There will be no opening statements, and instead Wallace will dive right in with the first question to Trump. It will be divided into six 15-minute segments that Wallace has chosen. They are:
1) The Trump and Biden records;
2) The Supreme Court;
3) Covid-19;
4) the economy;
5) race and violence in cities;
6) the integrity of the election.

After the debates a poll will be posted on who you think won this first debate. Have lots of fun, keep the commentary fresh as I'm sure we've all heard many of the same lines for months and enjoy the beginning of the end of this presidential election cycle. Just as a reminder, on October 7th there will be a Vice Presidential debate between Kamala Harris and Mike Pence at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah.
You can view Joe Biden's megathread here, and Donald Trump's megathread here

That's even worse tbqh. Why is the man that is on death's doorstep running for the presidency? The Founding Fathers fucked up on so many fronts by restricting who could run for what office and how many terms they could have. They had an EXTREMELY optimistic view of humanity.

No defense of Biden specifically, but medical alert bracelets are actually pretty common for older candidates or those with health conditions like severe allergic reactions. If he were to be shot on stage or some other medical tragedy they don't want to waste time pulling out a file on his medical history. Just glance at the bracelet and they know, "No Penicillin or Latex." Then they can get back to work.

Edit: It is probably disguised as a rosary, which is common.

The Founders aren't responsible for term limits at all. Have you looked up the restrictions to be president? I don't want any >35 year old running the country.

The founders fucked up sure, but none of what you're complaining about makes the list of their fuck ups.

Why did Biden have two various wires falling out of his sleeve

They've responded to the sleeve thing by saying "it's a rosary he wears to honor his dead beloved son BEAU how dare you". Catholicism isn't an issue as long as it's a Dem. If he were on the other side, there'd be plenty of criticism about how the US is turning into a theocracy, the church's stance on abortion and traditional gender roles, and (especially considering the way he manhandles little girls) the widespread, decades-spanning child abuse.

I might be crazy for asking, but why interrupt or throw out anything at all during a debate, even if it's only quips and one liners (when it's not the open discussion part)? Irregardless of who is discussing, be it Biden, Trump, Russell Greer or the hamburglar - I just think it's disgraceful or rather embarrassing, that a debate, especially between two people vying for such high office, can't do without this kindergarden behavior.
It’s a simple enough strategy really. Biden has a long history of rambling and making bizarre comments when flustered or caught off guard. There is a Robin Williams skit from back during the Obama era where he makes fun of Biden for exactly this. Trump wants to needle him enough till he fucks up, which he did successfully multiple times. It may make trump look like an asshole yes, but it makes Biden look like a weak mentally broken old man. Which is way worse.

Now that I’m at work and dealing with normies, the consensus seems to be that Trump won but he went too hard. Keep in mind that these are mostly Trump supporters that I deal with.

He may have gone so hard this time so that Biden is uneasy and off balance in the next two debates. He'll feel like he got pushed back by Trump so now he'll go after Trump forcefully and make mistakes Trump can exploit. The next debate may see a calmer Trump and an angrier Biden running into walls as he tries to attack Trump.

Ah, I believe we are speaking at cross purposes here, though I can see now that my phrasing was indeed somewhat ambiguous - I did not mean why it makes sense tactically, I mean why are candidates at such a top tier in need of stooping to this level at all. It ought to be about superior political policy, everything else has no impact in the real world big picture and it is the only sensible thing one can really base one's vote on. Which is really what the debate ought to be about. Exposing whose future political policies make more sense to a particular voter and their particular perspective.

I'm actually looking forward to the VP debate. I want Pence to really go hard on Harris (since she's going to be president if Biden wins, it's going to be an important one).
The VP debate is probably just going to be a repeat of the 2016 one, where Kaine spazzed out so much and pandered to twitter that Pence looked like a reserved statesman by comparison. Considering Harris' primary campaign floundered entirely because she only catered to the twitter demographic...

Are Proud Boys even really a problem? For the most part, they don't really pick fights. And when they do fight, they fight ANTIFA terrorists (who set property on fire and attack random pedestrians).

That was pretty much my point in the TDS thread. Who cares about those people.

Here's the transcript. Journoswine are getting more brazen in their lies.

I know some of you guys watched it, but if this sampling is representative of how Wallace conducted the whole "debate", then he needs to tarred and feathered. Since when would a moderator just flat out command a candidate to denounce some group or somebody? I can see him or her asking if they [either candidate] would denounce some group or person specifically [and yes I know Biden wasn't pressed on this with Antifa] which is how Wallace started the question/conversation, but to then just command Trump after he affirmed we would denounce White Supremacists? Like what else do you need to hear and if there is anything else you want to hear, why would you honestly want to hear it from Trump?

Like really. When I first heard his response from Charlottesville, I was a bit disappointed. I thought he could have been a bit more forceful, but then I remembered. This is Trump we're talking about. He doesn't have a particularly good batting record when it comes to responses. Why not just let it slide because if he has to do another take or two it's going to look dumb, and sure enough, that's exactly what happened.

To the extent that the debate increases the public‘s exhaustion with people shouting nonsense and insults on TV, it benefits Biden.

Well I’m in agreement with you there. That is an excellent question and you’re right it ought to not be this way. Personally I’d love to have a debate where they get up there and lay out their strategies for solving the issues we face as a nation, and civilly debate the pros and cons. Sadly that isn’t the world we live in. We live in a world where a millionaire basketball player can say cops are hunting blacks down in the streets and people believe him. While on the other hand people listen to the BS spewed by people like Spencer. Climate issues aren’t scientific they are political and so on an so forth. At some point we all fell off the path into some ridiculous clown shit and this debate is what we have to show for it.

I liked the Proud Boys when they were just a men's club. Now they're spergy t-shirts salesmen who get in fights now and again. They get way too much coverage than they deserve, and the spin of that coverage is ridiculous.

How is a group that's half non-White Hispanic, and something like a quarter White, and the rest 'other' an alt-Right neo-Nazi group? Every Proud Boy I've met (for the exception of one) has been Cuban or Korean.

The Proud Boys started out as a joke from Gavin McGinnis. You know, the guy that co-founded Vice?

FFS one of their initiation rights is to be jumped in until you name off five breakfast cereals. They have never taken themselves that seriously.
