The thread where you post your mildly unpopular opinions

Tom Arnold, Kevin James, and Rob Schneider all get more hate for their acting than they deserve. If they were cast in something that was actually well written and played to their strengths, any of them could give a good performance. They're just always cast in shit.
Those guys, you always know exactly what you're getting so there's no surprises when you see their kino.
I watch "Benchwarmers" at least twice during the offseason with other baseball comedies.

I completely forgot about that movie. I used to love Benchwarmers when I was younger. It's probably been about 10 years since I last saw it, I'll have to give it a watch soon.

It might be hard to relate for non-reptile owners. But reptile hoarding is not cute and I’m tired of memes about “lol oops I just bought another snake.” Hoarding is frowned upon when it’s cats or dogs, why not other kinds of animals?

Related. But it’s not justified to kill a snake or other animal just for existing. (Especially when people are too dumb to differentiate venomous and non-venomous species) They’re just trying to live their lives, man.

Autism should be banned on this forum.

But then it would be empty.

Australians should be banned on this forum.

Vaporwave is dogshit and the only people who unironically listen to it are passive pussy people with mental illnesses.

Nightcore is for absolutely autistic faggots.

Dan Brown isn't that bad. In fact he writes quite nice little adventures to lose yourself in. The style elements people complain about are endearing quirks, and the issues of lack of realism/accuracy in some things are just part of fiction.

Most who (inaccurately) try to recreate 1980s tropes online were not born until the millenium.

What's a good example? I'm not sure what you mean.

i'm in the middle of reading the lost symbol and it's alright. I can't stand the fact this andros guy is perfect at everything though and robert langdon is a pretty obvious self insert. I did learn about the symbol of the egyption sun god called a circumpunct is the same one used as the solar mass symbol but most other things i take with a bucket of salt.

I just finished that one and Origin. I can agree about Andros but it's yet another quirk that I don't find it too hard to look past, like how everyone apparently drinks their coffee black, and that thing where he names the precise model numbers of the shit people are using. I hadn't managed to quite pin down in concrete traits why Langdon feels like a self-insert, but when you look at the dude's picture on the cover, it just feels like that would totally be him. A handful of salt is definitely necessary, but if you can suspend your disbelief a bit, Brown does a decent job of convincing you that there are these fascinating mysteries waiting to be unearthed and keeps you turning the pages to find out what they are.

But I'll readily admit I have no taste when it comes to either food or media. I'm the same guy who professes his love for putting peanut butter in instant ramen.

The exception is that, as an IT guy, I found Digital Fortress entirely too offensive -- but I couldn't resist finishing that story either.

Clive Barker has a lot of great ideas, but he's kind of a "ho hum" writer. I don't think he's a bad writer per se, but his style is incredibly detached and dry, which might work for a few of his novels/stories like The Damnation Game, but it usually just comes off as boring, like Galilee

Ramsey Campbell is a much better horror writer with that "dry British style" who can actually utilize it well.
