The problem was that he used his employee discount to buy the consoles and use it on a money tournament. Not personal use. Firing him for this reason is totally okay.

A 3 second google search says that termination policy is "at will" in connecticut and any of his employers could fire him for any reason they chose to and funny enough change at will what the duties of that person are at will under labor laws.

The deeper underlying issue Chronic Outer Ear infections point to is that. . .you need to clean your ears regularly, you need to dry your ears regularly especially after cleaning them to make sure there is no built-up moisture in them that serve as bacterial breeding grounds, and you need to stop digging around in and scratching your ear canals.
He literally went to Urgent Care to flap his arms around and squawk ' wow dude! Nothing I could do. I did everything correct, I did nothing wrong!' because of his narc-ego's need to blame-shift.
I hope his doctor just explains basic hygiene to him and tells him to take his allergy medicine regularly like he's supposed to.

- The ear drops he's been getting have worked very well
- He still has more of said ear drops that have worked very well
- You frequently don't even need a doctor's visit to get just a prescription refill, you can call your pharmacy to ask them to call it in or call your doctor's office and ask them to approve a refill yourself

If Fil had an ear infection as bad as he claims he wouldnt be able to stream at all. That kind of pain can bepretty debilitating so I bet he has a clogged ear with some slight pressure but nowhere near as bad as he claims it to be. His rant of being angry that the doc office ownt hold his hand and search clinics for him made my eye twitch. Use fucking Google or your insurance website idiot.

Interesting. I was somewhat following Phil way back then, but I didn't remember that little saga.
That might be the only thing in the bracket I think wasn't really a much of a scam. Doesn't seem like something 2010 Phil would have made up, and he wasn't even really begging for donations/tips to make up for whatever money he might have lost.

Phil has proved time and time again, especially since he moved to Washington, that he’s an incredibly huge pussy. He doesn’t know true pain or discomfort (though I’m sure the gout wasn’t fun) because he’s been coddled and waited-on for his entire life. He comes across as having hypochondriac tendencies sometimes. The smallest little ache or pain is soon blown up into a major disease. I’m sure he’s one of those people who runs to the internet to look up symptoms so he can self-diagnose his issue, which any medical professional will tell you that that is not a smart thing to do. Almost any symptom you look up can list “cancer“ as a possible diagnosis.
When it comes to dealing with health care, you need not look any further than the “Emergency” vlog to see how ignorant Phil is. He was at the ER with Leanna for three hours and acted like that was an extreme amount of time to be there. And everything nurses or hospital staff told him was completely dismissed as ridiculous and stupid to him. In Phil’s mind, he is an expert in all fields, and everyone should listen to him. Building PCs, designing and coding games, marketing video games, and also apparently health care. Some of my close relatives on my mother’s side have this attitude as well, but they’re actually really dumb. It’s a way for them to feel smart when they know deep down that they really don’t know shit about what they are talking about, and have a low self-esteem.

and this is the reality of the DSP (and other lolcow) fanbase:
He has two main groups who keep him relevant, the "detractors" who enjoy hating on him and the "white knights" who defend him against the other group. However, they are both "fans" who financially support him and want his content to keep coming, loving to hate gives the same enjoyment as loving to support. Neither side wants the ride to end and in-fact both sides feed off each other like opposing football team fans jeering at each other in the stadium and belly laughing at the nonsense of it all.
I would 100% guarantee that at least some (probably a lot) of the regulars who post here mocking him give him money quite often (and not chargebacks either), or at the very least will do so if there is even a sniff that the content might dry up for any reason. Many of the contributing regulars on his streams probably have well known accounts here actually.
DSP is basically a clown people pay to go see and then purchase tomatoes from his store to throw at him, or like the "The Room" fanbase, that pay to go see screenings they have paid to see a million times before. Just to throw popcorn at the screen and jeer at it.
Even the chargeback stuff is being done for entertainment, whoever is behind it is either doing it for the delicious drama (because normal DSP is boring as shit) or it's one of the "detractor" youtubers doing it to get more monetized views on the drama videos covering it. I would not even be surprised if the person doing the chargebacks is the same person who did the 2-3 thousand dollar cheers too, because they don't want to hurt his business they just want the drama.
DSP knows his fanbase, he knows many who post here mocking him, actually support him with cash. He even says or does things to titillate the hate boners, he will eat skittles with a chance one is gross because he knows you will snicker at it when he finally gets the nasty one, he will say "guys this chair is old, if you tip me $200 I might fall out of it when I'm spinning and hurt myself!", he will pretend to be dizzy from spins because "omg this is so bad, so cringe...I love it!". His entire stream persona revolves around keeping people jeering at him, the forced burping (and yes it is forced), the over the top snorting, the attacking of game developers, the never ending Street fighter streams where he spouts the same worn out catchphrases that you all love to hate so much. It's all to keep his detractors happy, invested and contributing.
DSP has two distinct fanbases who financially support him (and some of them have double lives playing characters on both sides) and he has an entire mini-industry built around him too, people who pay the bills making videos mocking him. Which ensures a fairly small viewership pays him well above what others streamers his size make and guarantees he will be doing this into retirement.

The way he goes about it always irks me, and ultimately is the reason it makes him look bad. It's one thing to criticize, but you don't have to talk down on something/someone when things don't go your way.
It's not unreasonable to expect a certain level of quality, it's what people get paid to do. It's just that Phil is such a condescending asshole that every minor thing gets blown out of proportion and everyone/everything involved is either an asshole or piece of shit.
Watching back old DSP is such a treat in this regard because there exists no such a thing as a filter, he just blurts out everything that comes to mind. His emotion speak out before any logic. Just watch his Ask the king videos and you'll see what I mean. Everything is so emotionally loaded, it honestly feels like a 15 year old kid is talking. Whenever his voice get's higher pitched in those videos, you know it's time and you know what will come out of that mouth is going to be bullshit.
When he's talking about how he's matured, this thing is what makes me smile the most because 12 years later he still does that shit every day.
EDIT for clarity:
The point I'm trying to make is that an adult should be able to separate his emotions from logic when talking. A department Phil seems to be severely lacking in.
