The strangest thing I've seen DLive do is hog almost all my bandwidth when it didn't have to. It was about a year ago and it only happened on certain streams since quitting one stream and starting another would make the problem go away. CPU% was normal when this happened so I concluded the same thing you did - it's a poorly coded website.
