I thought he had those states on a hard lockdown and was like 20+ points ahead of Trump. If he's doing so well in these states, why does he suddenly need to start playing defense in "safe" areas instead of focusing his campaign on actual battlegrounds?
This is something I've been meaning to post about for a while, especially with Biden calling lids every other day, because I think that might be of of the main things that ultimately sinks him.
Basically, while the polls aren't lying about Biden's lead, they're misleading. Biden does have the lead they say
if, and only if, you factor in the people who are undecided/less likely to vote but who say they lean Biden. Among likely/enthusiastic voters Trump is fucking demolishing Joe. This is why I was going to argue that the lids have fucked Joe. At this point they've been running their campaign almost entirely on orange man bad/orange man russian puppet/orange man literally the reincarnation of Hitler etc etc.
The problem is we've had literally four fucking years of this shit, and if it wasn't enough to motivate those people by now, it was never going to work. Instead they needed to find another way to appeal to those people, and the best way to do that would have been for them to see the fucking candidate out and about on the trail talking about his policies and shit. Hell i've been following the election closer than probably 90% of Americans, and I still couldn't tell you what Joe's policies are because he will not fucking talk about them other than mouthing empty platitudes and vague fucking promises.
I feel like the Biden campaign took the massive, massive gamble that shit like orange man bad, kung flu, BLM/general injustice shit would be enough to carry them over the line. But with kung flu dying off, and public opinion turning due to the riots, they're scrambling to make up for it and they just don't have the time.
The biggest irony is people have been pointing out for 4 years that Clinton's lack of campaigning in the rust belt ultimately cost her and yet they made the same fucking mistake again, and I honestly could not love it more.
PS for anyone interested in the polling stuff I'd highly recommend the People's Pundit. The guy's an actual pollster who's done a fair amount of polling for this election, including crowdfunding a poll in Florida from his viewers, and he does regular podcasts on youtube where he talks a lot about methodology as well as sharing the actual numbers.
