It’s gonna be a wash for Trump.
It makes him look weak and foolish, and it’ll leave a bad taste in people’s mouth if he shifts his policy or rhetoric too far in either direction. If he suddenly gets more serious about it, they‘ll see him as selfish, if he treats it like a joke he’ll look insensitive. He’s really gotta thread the needle.
I think he gains most of that back from normal human beings having a chance to see just how vile and cruel his opposition is being in response. It’s equally as difficult for Biden, Pelosi and Schumer to capitalize on this politically without coming off as lacking compassion. That’s doesn’t necessarily means they won’t try, and they sure as shit won’t be able to contain the millions of assholes crawling out of the woodwork acting completely unhinged while loudly wishing for Trump’s death.
People may think Trump has acted foolish and irresponsibly, but I think they’re going to react worse to the constant chorus of “I told you so” in the long run.
If nothing else though, Trump stands to lose ground by COVID taking the spotlight again over the riots, which were a winning issue for him. God, it’s weird to imagine that we had massive civil unrest this year on top of everything else.
I genuinely hope he lives, and even if I hated the man I’d wish it all the same because if he bit the dust now, then the potential for real, life altering chaos goes through the roof. I want my family to be safe above everything else, and this is yet another thing that could put them in danger if it goes south.

Trump gets tested daily for Covid, so whenever he caught it had to be within like 2-3 days, or however long it takes Covid to be detectable via tests. So it's possible he's asymptomatic ( and thus not suffering really, but a carrier all the same) or they caught it before he's properly got symptoms, which means it's a good a time as any to test some new treatments and see if they fly.
I suspect he won't be as badly off as Boris Johnson was - and Boris survived, even though he had a pretty close call with it.
Boris got it bad as he did because he kept plugging along when people noted he looked unwell. Then kept *trying* to run the country via zoom calls ect. He also had a kid on the way. So he ran himself ragged to the point of needing a ventilator and a few nights in Hospital in an induced-coma.
I suspect Trump will take the step back and delegate for the 2 weeks and spend most of the time shitposting on twitter - which is funny considering how much twitter is celebrating right now.

I'm nitpicking (bottom right picture), but one would think that for all of the hysteria by these people that think that the KKK is around every corner, and that Trump, who lives in their head 24/7, is their leader, they'd at least know it's the Ku Klux Klan. I concur. Whilst the age difference is a consideration, it all gets back to underlying health. BoJo is clearly less healthy than Orange Man; not that either is a perfect picture of health, but the whole "keep calm and carry on" Britbong mindset did BoJo no favours.
