The American presidential election is technically an election to nominate electors who are pledged to the candidate you're voting for. If a candidate dies before election day, it's up to the parties to decide how to handle it and which person to aim their electors at. In all likelihood, they pick their candidate for Vice President, but there's no reason they have to do that (here's how Bernie can still win!). In 1912 this happened, the dead candidate's electoral college votes were cast for his chosen replacement.

Trickier is if the candidate dies after the electoral college votes for him, but before congress formally counts the votes. This is uncharted territory, with two main options. First is to count the electoral college votes for the dead guy and, if he wins, basically the vice presidential candidate becomes president on Jan 20. Other choice is to not count the EC votes, in which case no candidate receives an electoral college majority, and the house then has to vote among the three top electoral college candidates for who becomes president.

And if all that still doesn't result in a president getting elected, then on Jan 20th the terms of the president and vice president shall end, and the Speaker of the House (Nancy Pelosi) becomes acting president.

The media had been pushing that 'lol trump and trumpers so dumb bleach covid!' on social media since the beginning of COVID, they were trying to make sure the smear landed to maximize humiliation, which required removing the context that proved it a lie. They had that planned before he even said anything during that briefing, it was already written, they were fishing for anything to tie it to. It worked well, as Trump was so embarrassed that he lied about it, claiming it was sarcasm instead of just a stilted off-the-cuff statement about a factual treatment that he had been briefed about.

It was a remarkably cruel move. It wasn't just meant to humiliate Trump, not just all conservatives, but white people in general, as it was a play on that stereotypical elitist smear that 'flyover hicks' are all stupid, toothless, and uncouth. (And that is why the Day Of The Rope cannot come soon enough.)

Biden is actually the shithead that the media claims Trump is though. He's about as evil and corrupt a politician as one could be. No matter how dirty a real estate developer Trump ever was he never came anywhere close to the dirtbag that Biden has been his entire life. No, we call Biden a pedo because he inappropriately touches and sniffs young girls in public situations where they'd be afraid to say anything or make a scene. Not enough to get in trouble, just enough to unsettle them. He knows where the line is and he's willing to dance up to it but not over it.
