After everything else that's happened this year, the POTUS and FOTUS contracting a potentially deadly virus is the piss dipping sauce on top of an already turd sandwich. I hate to be a doomer, but seeing this headline brought back a question in my mind: should I be scared now?

I know exactly what you're feeling, just when you feel like 2020 might be winding down a bit, now this happens.

I hate to sound like a doomer too (who, me?) but there is the thought in the back of my mind that we might be on the verge of something that will genuinely be the end of society as we know it, it's getting harder and harder to imagine things just going back to "normal" after all this.

We'll probably be fine, but the voice in the back of your head that says "but what if we're not?" is getting harder to ignore.

That's because the majority of people in this subforum are pro-Trump. Look at the RBG thread for the exact opposite response. If Biden has tested positive, people in this thread would be celebrating hard.

That being said, I am pretty sure Trump will survive. He will get top-notch treatment and everything like that.

Not so sure about that. Most people simply don't want Biden to be the President. They don't actually hate the guy, it is just politics.

And ultimately it seems as if his contraction of the virus was unavoidable seeing as one of his staff infected him. Not like it was from a rally. And the American President unfortunately can't not do his job and hide away from the plague.

Watched ABC, media's going full speed ahead with the "didn't take it seriously" narrative.

I can see in some ways the man himself made some mistakes in underestimating it upon himself, but I do think it's a little bit far out to believe that they want to frame it as if he didn't want to take action at all to protect the people at large from COVID-19.

He didn't take it seriously. He still held rallies and encouraged people not to wear masks to this very day. He insulted Biden for wearing a mask at the debate just a few days ago. His supporters are the ones who aren't wearing masks. He told governors to "reopen the economy" way before we were ready. He encouraged the idiot protesters back in April that were demanding bars and such reopen.

I may be misremembering, but didn't the "lol inject bleach" come from talking about hydroxychloroquine could help, even with YouTube removing a video on how it actually worked, then reversed that position a few months later, and Trump was right all along?

Nah it came from a press conferency type thing he was doing with some scientists, they were talking about the power of UV light and making comparisons to bleach etc then trump worded something awfully. Slight side not but it's kind of amazing we're at the stage where multiple companies are testing out ways to 'inject' UV light into the airways and lungs.

Drink fish tank cleaner though was from him talking about hydroxychloroquine, especially after that woman murdered her husband with it.

This could be an elaborate scheme to grant himself multiple terms, being sick could give him plausible deniability allowing Pence to run instead and have him as vice president, then have Pence step down which could theoretically grant him unlimited terms if the supreme court rules in his favor:

That's also very possible but it's fairly ambiguous imo and he's been using Arabic words in his campaign recently to try to appeal to Muslims so I'm inclined towards that interpretation.

Trump should have taken the reins early in this shitshow. If he would've just addressed the nation and said "I know it sucks, but everybody must commit to wearing masks and being disciplined in your daily activities and let's get the fuckin' nation back on track." Instead he listened to a few prominent voices in his base and played it mostly ambivalent. Now every hater can point at him and laugh about a month before a pivotal election.

You've got some people afraid to step outside because of the coof and others who don't give a single shit. If most people would just be middle of the road and take commonsense precautions without screeching in fear, we'd be in a much better place right now.
