Ralph's financial liability is absolutely $0.00, until he either signs the birth certificate or the court orders a DNA test, or if they are already married, in some states the husband is automatically put on the birth certificate. So if they marry before the birth, he could be on the hook for child support, even if the baby is not his, IE lil'niglet.

Can you imagine how happy Faith will be when he denies to sign the birth certificate of their new child. As for the DNA test I dont think he has a leg to stand on, in contesting it, since I believe his DNA is on file from his felony arrest.

I don't really know what the rules are for assistance in Virginia, some states make the father cover medical costs along with child support for any child to unwed parents even if they live together, and that support would go to the state to offset the cost of the state providing assistance.

If the state is footing the bill, they will attempt to offset that liability by going after the parents for compensation. Since Faith has 0 income, if Ralph is determined the father, they will definitely look into charging him for the costs accrued by the state.

I dont think they can force Faith into naming Ralph as the father, but if he and Faith are married he will be considered the father, and he better have that money hidden in something far better than some silly shell company, that conducts 0 business.

If Faith wants any assistance for herself they will be asking for household income and the relationship status of all parties. Sandra would be in the clear, but is Faith going to say Ralph is just the landlord? This is why hoodrat families do not have the father in the home, if they were in home they would have to count their income as family income. I wonder if the state will view him as "able bodied" and require him to acquire gainful employment.
