I had noticed that dispite the popularity and universal praise, we had no dedicated Among Us thread. So once again, I'll start a thread on a game we don't have yet.

So let's begin. Among Us is a game in which 3-10 people need to play as either a crewmate completing tasks, or an impostor trying to stop them.

Crewmates can report bodies and call emergency meetings, during this time they can call a vote to try and guess who the impostor is, Crewmates win when all tasks are complete or all impostors are dead.

Impostors in Contrast are able to kill crewmates freely on a cooldown but risk being spotted in the act, They may also sabotage doors to close for a short while or sabotage various systems on the map to disrupt the crews progress. Impostors win when they outnumber the crewmates.

So, What are your thoughts on the game? What are your favorite aspects of the game? Is the fame deserved or undeserved? Do you think we may have an impostor among us here on Kiwifarms?

It works best as a party game with friends you're in a voice call with.

Also 5up is the best Among Us player.
I'd agree except for the fact some of the best moments ive had were with randoms.

Like this one time some guy called an emergency meeting to say that he just wanted to say hi, then he gets 10 out of 10 votes to be kicked off the ship.

I respect your opinion but atleast among us doesnt require hours to learn. You have to give it atleast that.
The "learning phase" of SS13 is the best gaming experience I've had, bar none. You should get the operational basics in an hour or two at most. Everything after that is raw discovery, and covering your incompetence with roleplay. Which is fun.

I unno man. I think my fundamental issue with games like Among Us vs. SS13 is that I've gotten lasting memories from the latter. If you're going to kill hours with vidya, might as well take something from it

It's going to be a flash in the pan streamer bait game for a few months and then die out just like the last streamer bait game. Fall Guys is already waning in popularity and it's barely 2 months old.

Edit to avoid double post: This could be totally wrong if the devs stick to their plans and keep the game flush with content. I just don't see there being enough of an audience for long enough to keep the game alive as is.

I agree, learning can be part of the fun, but sometimes its incredibly boring, for example i cant stand dwarf fortress.

Sounds to me like ss13 with less clowns. 2/10
It's nowhere near as in depth as SS13, this is coming from someone who only has a modest familiarity with SS13. The mini games you have as Crew or as an Imposter are pretty simple. Among Us is still a fun little game but the 5 dollar price tag is about what it is worth. Simple, fairly fun, easy to do a lot of repeat games of.

It is actually fun to play with your friends and have a night yelling, calling everyone lying faggots and having some really heated arguments only to go back to being good friends after the game.

It is only as good as the people you play with, which I think will lead to it not lasting very long.

I like Among Us far more than TTT for the fact that you actually have to gather proof and discussion on who's the impostor, and there's no way to just bullshit kill whoever you think is the traitor (and by extent, faggots crying "RdM!!1! rdM!!1!!"), and that since it's text chat only, not using a mic isn't a death sentence
Though some flaws i notice is the lack of fun TTT-style traps, matches with less than 6 players being too short, and that getting to play as an Impostor feels fucking rare.

Something to remember: games that are popular because they are trendy are little more than passing fads that will be forgotten by the next year at most.

For some reason, I get rather irritated whenever I see obvious "trend games"/"fad games" being promoted everywhere.

Haven't played Among Us, but Town of Salem was fun as hell. Haven't played in a couple years though.

The thing about Among Us that turns me off is the actual gameplay, with a game like that, the talking with the other players is the fun part to me not the running around doing tasks/murder. Thats why I liked Town of Salem the gameplay was the discussion and getting people off your trail. Oh and writing copy pastas and gamer words in your will.

It's total streamerbait but also what I would consider a spiritual digitization of the many "he's a wolf in sheep's clothing" tabletop party games. The best thing it has going for it is relatively good stability with PC/mobile crossplay and it's as easy to get into matches with planned groups as Jackbox or the like.

Fans of SS13 should encourage more people to try Among Us as training wheels, and let them know a deeper alternative exists to harvest new players. I'd like to see a polished game that fits somewhere in the middle personally. Among Us also has a charming aesthetic and nice sound design. Solid thumbs up for friends and randos.

I was surprised to hear that there was some sort of “drama” between XQC and other streamers about Toxicity. It was really entertaining to watch them bicker and get mad tbh.
