Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

The whole "sexy = sexist" idea is one of the worst things to ever happen to pop culture, just where did people get this asinine idea?

People like sexy bodies, male or female, it's not any more sexist to show a woman scantily clad than it is to show a guy shirtless.

It wasn't even that long ago that things were different, I think of the 2012 movie Magic Mike, which had Channing Tatum and other beefy guys dancing around in thongs, but also had a topless Olivia Munn for us dudes.

Basically, it was when the feminists and pop culture media people decided that they've had enough of cheesecake/T&A. They only desired to push it to undermine the fuddy-duddy religious conservatives, but once the old right got chased out of the public square, the same leftists who reveled in showing sexy chicks as a form of girl power turned on it and called it sexist because it appeals to men. Now, ironically enough, the new right (which mostly consists of internet shitposters and anime fans) supports showing cheesecake and revels in anime fanservice/sexy girls in video games while the new left whines about how sexist it is and how you shouldn't look at woman that way. You can see a few people who are leftovers from older feminist movements, they identify as feminists who are "sex-positive" and are all for cheesecake, but they're in the minority, shouted down by the majority of new feminists who get assmad over Slave Leia but don't lose sleep over Jacob from Twilight going shirtless all the time.

I picked up star wars squadrons, likely completely in error since i'm already seeing steam forums shitposts about "the lovely character diversity"
I'm also being forced to setup and use a Windows 10 x64 bit VM for the first time ever because the game literally has a .dll which integrates into the WINDOWS APP STORE and based on its documentation SHOULD NOT ACTUALLY BE IN THE PRODUCTION COPY OF THE GAME.
I am mad on the internet alright.

This is why I just stuck with classic Battlefront II and Rogue Squadrons 2 and 3 when it comes to SW space battles. I mean, why would I shell out good money for substitutes to goods that I still have?

I picked up as well. The costimization is pretty bad. It certainly is a "diversity crew".

I'm not really sure why there are terrible customization options for this game(mandate?). They could add options, but they should have had some sort of facial generator.

Also, I snorted at the no distinct gender options. It's fucking stupid, but looking past that:

The game is not a simulator. It's essentially rogue squadron, from a cockpit, with some system management.

So, it kinda plays something like Jedi Starfighter. So, mostly an arcade feel with some depth.

Controls are a little awkward for me largely because I've been Rebel Galaxy Outlaw(which has a different control scheme). It's counter intuitive but I'll get the hang of it...

It's not bad, it's just kinda bare bones. It's something they clearly hope to DLC the shit out of...

Does it feel like it was meant as a DLC/xpac for EA's BF2?

Well then guess I'll just continue expanding the eridau authority's borders and keep those damn dirty CHiss from taking Belvavis

As for me, I'll have my custom battle in Galactic Battlegrounds where the Jedi and the Mandalorians ally with each other and with the Rebels against the Empire, and I play as the Empire and crush their allied nuts with Dark Troopers, AT-ATs, and AT-AAs.

DARK TROOPER, RELEASE!

I was immediately disinterested in Squadrons when they decided to go full DiceFront 2015 and not include multiple eras. Part of my fatigue with the current Star Wars brand is how it's basically attached by the hip to the OT: all of the comics, most of the novels, all of the games...it's all fucking OT regalia, stormtroopers and rebels, X-Wings and TIE Fighters, used future and retro aesthetics...it's so boring now.

That's all Star Wars has been since Disney took over, and I've long gotten sick of it. But I'll probably be changing my tune when High Republic comes out, and turns out to be a festering pile of donkey shit.

You'd think they'd endlessly mine the Clone Wars era instead since there's a whole show based on it that could make for some cool games.

Knew that game would be shit from the start.
Its already getting mixed reviews on Steam. The positive shill reviewers mainly just say the same thing "if you're a true SW fan then this game is mandatory! CONSUME!" However most reviews look like this:
1601654718588.png

1601630707070.png

As predicted. The game's hack writer hasn't improved a single iota since he wrote EAfront II and its the same fucking story. Imperial bad guy defects and becomes good guy while a bunch of forced references to LGBTQIAlphabet Squadron are added in. Brilliant writing as always Disney.

Even the reviews that try to be fencesitters keep saying "don't worry guys! The DLC and patches will fix it up and add more!" Fuck that. EA keeps pulling this crap every time, releasing half-assed bullshit to see just how easily amused the consumer is and find out how much work they really need to bother to put in.
You'd probably hate it too if you were forced to be one of two women in a desert wearing only that with no underwear on.

For all we know GL quoted Carrie with the sand line in II. Gives "it gets everywhere" an entirely new meaning.

Oh well. At least it looks like she got some fun out of it for a bit.

Not really - well, maybe on some of his earlier projects. ASSISTANT directing is closer to a leadership role. The director generally just yells at people, he doesn't have to inspire confidence.

I think that has been relaxed as there was some new slave leia figure if I recall.

Also, you're missing the point, which is co-op their coopting.
Now if you'll exclude me, I need to go open my Slave Leia coplayer folder and go slay the Hutt.
There was a Slave Leia figure, but it was also called Hutt Slayer.

Anyway, back to the old grind of ROTJ concept art...
(where I left off: https://kiwifarms.net/threads/star-wars-griefing-thread-spoilers.32492/post-7454059)

To start off, here's another missed Rancor concept. These ones make it look more humanoid. Almost like ogres. The first one feels like a chinese demon.
1601567690070.jpeg

These Rancor designs are more monstrous.
1601567812550.jpeg

A full view of the hornface rancor and a tentacled rancor. It may be a coincidence or not, but a rancor subspecies in lore called a Bull Rancor (below left) may have been based on the hornface concept but with more horns. Mutant Rancors may have also been based on rejected concept art.
1601568228540.png
1601625056674.png

The tentacle one doesn't seem like its ever been re-used which is a shame since it looks pretty monstrous. Closest thing it resembles is a Swamp Rancor, except that one has curved horns instead of tentacles.
1601620738336.png

Still I wish someone had introduced that thing into lore before Disney bought the franchise. Would've made for a rad Rancor mutant.

Oh well, moving on...

A storyboard sketch of Han being unfrozen by David Carson along with some molds of Han's face which were used for the decarbonization.
1601628402870.png

Dated Oct 4, 1982.

And another concept art of Gargan that I missed before.
1601666846906.jpeg

Now for the rejected Jabba designs.

Some of these I already covered in the Monsters and Aliens guide. The top and bottom designs were by Ralph and the middle one by Nilo.
1601630859374.png
1601662746730.png

As I said with this design in the M&A guide, it was later reused for the character of Dyslogia in M&A and a prequel tie-in. Disney/Filoni later used it for one of their species which they initially used as replacements for Hutts for some reason before going back to Hutts after TLJ.

Here are some more sketches by Tippett, Jamero, McQuarrie and Johnston. The first design shows Jabba was going to be even fatter. The second design I posted before in the M&A guide suggesting that Jabba was going to be the same species as Sy Snootle.
1601631061392.png

The fourth design had Jabba with no arms at all, instead relying on his tail which had a claw at the end. The last design was far more grotesque and bulbous, with Jabba even having bloody wounds and a tail that looks like a malformed phallus. The third design which I mention last featured Jabba with ears and longer arms, which would later be incorporated into lore in the form of the Sy Myrthian species, a possible Hutt relative that appeared in the prequels.
1601664525942.png

Another design by Tippett, this one giving Jabba more of a slimy caterpillar/slug feel and he would've been carried around by slaves. Neat but puppeteering this thing would've been even more of a hassle.
1601631096772.png
1601663090174.jpeg

Although this design never made it into lore as far as I can recall, two species related to Hutts with multiple limbs did appear. The giant Orooturoo and the smaller Yahk Tosh, who were introduced to the lore in the Dark Horse comics in the form of Princess Nampi and Warlord Gar-Oth.
1601661878022.png
1601663343200.png

However the similarities may have just been a coincidence or not. Who knows. Anyway, the multi-armed Jabba design was one of the first ones created by Tippett, however George was not fond of it. So Tippett then made a more humanoid-looking Jabba:
1601663608812.jpeg

George hated it even more for being "too human". Would've probably fit right in with Disney's alien rejects in the DT. A friend once told me it may have inspired Dex in AotC, but honestly aside from having four arms, there's no real comparison.

More designs by McQuarrie, Jamero and Johnston.
1601631170912.png

I already discussed the first one in the M&A guide and how it was added into lore via the Quockran species. The second red-face is another design for what would become Dyslogia. The last two are just grosser-looking Jabba designs.

Finally, a sketch by Jamero (vagina hutt?), two more sketches by McQuarrie and Tippett's final model sculpture for Jabba which would seal the deal and gain George's approval. And thus Hutts were born.
1601631126818.png

While I'm not one to shill Disney shit, Disney is actually releasing a small bust based on Tippett's finalized design which looks pretty neat.

Here is the concept for Leia's bounty hunter disguise by Johnston.
1601625510930.png

And Boushh/Bounty Hunter as conceived by Nilo Rodis and Aggie Rodgers. It doesn't mention who came up with the name and both are listed as his creators. So its hard to say, but the name Boushh was tied to the character in production from the get go at least.
1601625655348.png

His art is set separately from Leia's, probably hinting that Boushh may have been intended to appear in the film as more than a disguise. Maybe the movie would've shown how he died and how Leia got the armor at some point? Maybe this was back when ROTJ was intended to be two movies...? Or maybe he would've been a guest at Jabba's or an ally of Boba's? Who knows. Whatever the case, Boushh's concept and final design saw very little change aside from the color, mouth and length of the robes, although his force pike weapon had an additional blade on it. Anyway, how Leia got the armor would be shown much later in the Shadows of the Empire multimedia project, wherein Leia was seeking a way to infiltrate the criminal Black Sun syndicate (which had close ties to both Jabba and the Empire) and during this time Boushh met his end after betraying the criminal Black Sun syndicate and Leia would use his armor to infiltrate their mutual enemy, Black Sun, events which took place during the one year gap between ESB and ROTJ (below is a pic of Leia and Chewie in disguise during SotE along with a picture of a maskless Boushh).
1601627072098.png
1601628096188.jpeg

Looks a bit like Christopher Walken with a flat nose...

More iconic aliens. All three sketches drawn by Jamero, however each one had a different creator.
1601628820064.png

*The first one, "Yak Face", whose species was later called Yarkora (can't remember if it was in a 1983 activity book or the TCG), did not receive a proper name until 1997 where he was called Saelt. He was conceived by Judy Elkins and despite his name, he looks more like a camel. The OT sourcebook claimed that he survived the sail barge explosion. One of the very few aliens to not be given any sort of real name in 1983 outside of Yak Face. Not the best looking alien of the background lot, that's for sure. Oddly enough his species received very little details in lore, with them always being depicted as secretive gypsy-type characters.
*The second one called the "Elom" was conceived by Chris Walas. Elom was considered the species name ever since the art book. However the individual Elom in the film wouldn't get a name until his trading card dubbed him Tanus Spijek in 1995, named after one of the employees who developed the card game. Lore later claimed he died aboard the sail barge. His species got a rather interesting lore expansion thanks to the Thrawn Trilogy.
*The third is the Ishi Tib, conceived by Chris Walas. Initially called "Starfish" aliens in their first sketch before receiving a proper species name at some point during production. Two costumes were apparently produced, with said characters later being called Seff and Tiel in the 1995 TCG. They would go on to become one of the most recurring background aliens, appearing frequently in comics and games and even more so during the prequels.

Another Elom concept art by Walace and Jamero.
1601666252426.png

This guy being one of Jabba's assassins who was later named Vigrriev.

And finally for now two unused palace guards designed by Jamero.
1601666183240.png
1601666589602.png
1601666731720.png

Possibly based on Garindan the Kubaz from ANH but with a more fleshier proboscis. Interesting thing about Garindan is that in his concept art by McQuarrie, his face looked way more insectoid, but the mask that was produced made his face look more artificial, with stitches and tears, but its not that noticeable on the original print.

Just a few more concepts of Jabba's palace left...

I am Jack's complete lack of surprise. I knew as soon as I saw the announcement it would never, ever live up to X-Wing or X-Wing Alliance.

I predicted mediocrity, and it's hilarious they focused solely on VR. Point and click is an okay style for an adventure game or something from the Windows 95 and older period, but I much prefer moving with WASD over that nowadays. Also how do you manage to make the same system both good and shit at the same time? That's amazing.

Not exactly Star Wars but... Spaceballs is close enough. Right? Anyway...

Do you know where to get the old CCG card images? (Yes, I am that autistic) or need help?
Here I'll just demonstrate in case anybody is curious.

One of the fun things about the original CCG is that they LOVED to smuggle easter eggs into the cards.
