I think the only reason Trump backed down on that incident is that Fox News or OAN told Trump and his people, if he fought and DID get Acosta permanently bounced, then the second that a Democrat takes office, that Fox News and OAN would be blackballed from EVER being allowed into a White House/Presidential press conference, let alone any Congressional press conference since the lunatic left has had it out wanting to find any and all ways to purge Fox News (and now it's spiritual successor OAN).

It's because they need a panic. They need some sort of Hail Mary event, because I don't think that anyone realizes just how badly they're losing. The media's putting on a brave face, the polls are spinning so hard that they're spitting spoke and Biden is "NO U"ing as hard as he can every time that he opens his mouth, but there isn't any genuine confidence coming from anyone on their team, and there isn't a single marker I can find that's indicative of him actually being in the lead with the public.

This next week is going to be spent with every single idiot in the media trying to force a panic as hard as they can, because they need one, because they have nothing else. Biden's campaign is floundering violently to try and find a direction to run in that stops making their internal polling hemorrhage, the economy's well on its way to waking up again, and people are getting fucking sick of all of the masks and mandates and restrictions.

Whether they realize it or not (they don't, because they don't learn) they're going to spend the next week or two helping Trump suck all of the oxygen out of the room, again. They'll be breathlessly covering every single second that he spends in observation and quarantine, peddling all of the fake stories they can about his rapidly-declining health that will get rebuked within an hour, to try and spike the fear as high as they can push the needle.

All while Joe Biden putts around on his loser train with minimal media coverage, doing who knows what because nobody gives a shit.

Twitter already had to issue a ban on people wishing for death on Trump (archive) and they almost never change the rules in favor of conservatives or the right. While this is a wise move on their part, all they're doing is taking baby steps a month away from the election to reestablish the narrative than Biden is a calm, peaceful, "presidential" man who will bring back the good old glorious days of Obama. Even then, that will not prove to be enough. Biden's campaign is also removing negative ads, but the DNC needs all of their lackeys to fall in line to benefit from Trump being quarantined.

The DNC should wrangle their watch dogs into pushing the narrative of "Trump fucked up with COVID-19!" in order to drown out the influx of sympathy that Trump will get as a result of this. At least then, you have something that many people will agree with and increase turnout for Biden. Instead, the sleazy media and their cronies like Jim Acosta are putting out anonymous sources that Trump is in serious trouble while also have one of their same sources say that Trump is doing fine. That's on top of Acosta complaining that Trump won't ask questions even though he is fighting COVID-19. Then you have the occasional speculation that Trump is somehow faking having the COVID-19 virus. But if he didn't have it, why did he have to cancel his rallies in the first place, his biggest opportunities for gaining votes?

Unless Trump's health condition is worse than we think, the leftist media may once again snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. They could inexplicably give Trump a bigger boost in approval ratings than he may already receive and if it's anything like the initial coronavirus spike, that wave of sympathy will translate into votes he needs to be re-elected should he return to the public by the 15th of October.

Thinking there's even a chance the president, his staff, and the hospitals would all lie about Trump having coronavirus is kinda nuts, given the massive effect it has on the stock market and international affairs. It also doesn't seem to be an uncommon thought as you have Michael Moore promoting the same conspiracy theory along with others. It's about as bad as when people thought Hillary had an actor stand in for her for some photo-op to make her look healthy or whatever.

Wasn't it outed a while back that there was an illegal Twitter racket where you could buy (via downlow bribes) the right to be the first reply seen to any and all Trump tweets?
