It's sort of an interesting litmus test for how people view the world, I think. Not a hard and fast one, but on being told that you're richer due to a better quality of life, more freedom, greater access to what are effectively modern miracles, your wealth going further, less effort required on your part to survive, people seem to have one of two reactions:
  1. Yup, modern life is awesome, wouldn't trade it for a king's castle in 1020.
  2. Yeah but there are still a bunch of people richer than me so it doesn't matter how much progress we've made I'm still a peasant.
For some people it's not enough that even those technically living below the poverty line have better lives than even royalty in ages gone past, can expect to live longer, survive catastrophic events better, and certainly have access to more fonts of learning and entertainment than any of those people could have dreamed. That speaks of an ingrained jealousy, a fact that they can only measure success or prosperity by judging whether others are higher or lower than themselves.

Living your life comparing your success against the success of others is one of the most depressing, poisonous things you can do. I'm not even kidding, if you catch yourself doing this, you should absolutely challenge those thoughts when possible. You should always validate yourself by the measure of your own accomplishments and what you have, rather than sourly eyeballing them against someone else. There's no way you can be happy or successful when you measure happiness and success by whether or not you're the happiest, most successful person you know of.
It's even worse than jealousy. CS Lewis would call this Pride, the chief and deadliest sin, which by definition needs to be better than other people.

Pride gets no pleasure out of having something, only out of having more of it than the next man... It is the comparison that makes you proud: the pleasure of being above the rest. Once the element of competition is gone, pride is gone.

"How many Americans died because they were denied the care Trump gets right now?"

The answer is none. Zero. Because that's not how healthcare works in this country, especially during a pandemic.

If they had a single case of a Covid patient being turned away from a hospital and dying due to lack of care, they would have made them a national name by now, screeching endlessly about rationing and dying in the streets and such. They don't have it, because it didn't happen here. (Maybe it did in Italy or China, but we aren't allowed to compare them with Orange Man Bad.)

For all the nonsense about "flattening the curve", the one thing it did do was keep the medical system from being overwhelmed when it looked like that might happen. By the time the 2nd wave spiked up, hospitals were prepared, and they had even laid off nurses and emergency workers due to lack of patients.

Now if the left wants to bitch about all the wonderful exciting experimental drugs that Trump is getting which the public doesn't have access to, well, they shouldn't have lied about injecting bleach or people drinking fish tank cleaner. They shouldn't have screeched about every vaccine Trump said might possibly work, thus killing public interest in advancing them. And they shouldn't have tied their credibility to the WHO just because Trump criticized them, since the WHO keeps saying not to give out these drugs for general use.

Propaganda has consequences, bitches.
To be fair the system fucks you in more subtle ways if the provided care is poor, ways that are way more evident if you live with a universal healthcare system

Here's some of the bullshit my family has experienced over the years
- Having to wait months for doctor appointments, surgery, or test results
- Overworked or just lazy doctors who just throw antibiotics or steroids at you if they can't diagnose your issue in five seconds
- Refusal to perform a biopsy or endoscopy on my uncle even though he had dried blood in his stool (spoilers it was stomach cancer that killed him)
- Shitty surgeons who fuck you up
- Unclean hospitals where you'll get an infection just looking at the walls
- You share your hospital room with a dozen other people, none of them who understand basic etiquette

I'm sure Trump has better care than your average Joe, but to expect everyone to be given immediate attention 24/7 is unrealistic, no system on earth functions that way

A clean shift from "They're not telling us everything, the ubur flu is killing him" to "He was faking it all along" in the narrative that chooses to keep the virus scary. Probably will see a bit of "He only survived because he is the president. Why can't we get gibs that good?"
Trump's admin have already said the government is going to pay for ALL covid treatments. So if covid is detected in your system early enough, you will not pay a cent and get the same health care as the president. For the most part.

More of them are jumping on the "Trump is faking it for sympathy" bandwagon now that it seems like he is getting better.
From what I can tell, most people who've had it reported similar outcomes: a couple/few days sick, then a couple of weeks of nagging fatigue. This does not seem unusual for someone with what should be the best medical care possible, and no severe underlying conditions (he's not even all that fat, his bizarrely rigid stork posture makes his potbelly look more like obesity).

Considering that every bit of his private life is leaked almost immediately to the press, I doubt he'd fake this if there was any chance medical records could disprove it. At the hospital there is a certainly some blue-haired nurse or cheese-faced administrator that would leak his medical information without a second thought.

You have to wonder what made him such an asshole to begin with.
He's had to deal with the media for 50 years. Enduring the laser focus smears from the press for months is enough to drive anyone mad. Let alone years or decades! Especially the last four years! where the press has hunted him with such mendacious vigor that they've permanently destroyed the credibility and reputation of every single journalistic endeavor in the western world. They've done all that just for Trump, for Donald frigging Trump! The new Hitler, a white supremacist nazi! Everyone knows it!

How utterly silly the media looks. (And that is why the Day Of The Rope cannot come soon enough.)

"After days of contradictory information"
Rope du jour.

People on twitter are calling Trump's secret service drive selfish when I'm pretty sure all of them are wearing masks and masks are effective for those with Covid.
That's something I noticed. Trump is in the car waving. And the Secret Service are wearing masks along with the President.

Do they expect that the President wouldn't be able to leave a hospital without ANY attention?

As an aside, why do they care if they get Covid? I thought they hated them.
