Taika Waititi to Tackle 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' for Netflix - Example #8092 on how creatively bankrupt the entertainment industry is

As long as Gene Wilder 1971 Charlie and the Chocolate Factory exists, Netflix can do whatever the fuck it wants, I don't care. Make Veruca a lesbian, turn Violet into a fat pride icon, make Mike into a hyperconservative Kenosha Kyle wannabe larper stereotype, make Wonka black and the Oompa Loompas white--go fucking nuts.
Gene Wilder's gone, there is only one TRUE AND HONEST Charlie and the Chocolate Factory film adaptation, no other adaptation matters.
Woke Charlie and the Chocolate Factory?

Are they going to make Charlie a faggot?
No, just black. They did the same with Lovecraft Country and the The Witches remake. Guarantee Charlie's going to be a poor black boy growing up in rural Alabama during the Jim Crow era taking care of his two ex-slave grandparents. Every single "reclamation" reboot project does this trope, every fucking time without fail.

Lmao the original Oompa Loompas were literally enslaved black pygmies.

Gene Wilder reciting the poem (by Roald Dahl, no less) on the boat ride was the best shit ever, that's all I have to say on the matter. (Especially since, if urban legend is to be believed, it wasn't scripted and the cast legitimately thought Gene had started to go insane.)

Ah yes, everyone knows that making a whole series based on very minor characters is a great idea.

MAKE NEW THINGS, HOLLYWOOD!!!
Don't give me that "original things don't sell" crap, the John Wick IP is only 6 years old and it's one of the most popular things in Western pop culture right now, it can be done.

I liked What We do in the Shadows and Thor: Ragnarok but I'm really starting to get sick of this guy's shit. All the sell out spin-offs were aggravating and how that Hitler movie tried banking on being """controversial""" was nothing but obnoxious.
The biggest eye-opener as to the Nazi condition I ever saw was a sub of one of Hitler's speeches that was at the end of an E;R vid, his first one on Steven Universe before Susan found out about it. Whenever you see these fucking people try and dab on the Nazis, it's always that sort of 'HAHA LITTLE SILLY MAN IN SHORT HA' and 'THE FUNNIE GOOSESTEP HAHA' or 'THINK OF DE CHIL'DRENS''. And yet I learned more about National Socialism and the dark path these morons lead all society down in it's weak-sauce limp-wristed criticism of the status quo at the end of some hokey review on YouTube than I ever did from MSM.

A reminder that Tim Burton's version is the superior version.

DELET PLEAS?

I think What Titty is successful in spite of himself.
I wonder if he'll go the way of Jordan Peele and become 100% terrible in everything. Working for Netflix seems to do that to everyone.

I think his Ragnarok might have been the moment when his style of comedy was stretched too far. Apparently no one had the clout to tell him to tone it done to prevent it from becoming grating and hammy. Now unrestrained he might be just another hollywood blowhard who thinks they're a genius.

I haven't liked a thing he's done since, and I used to love his stuff. We'll always have the Wilderpeople!

I liked Ragnarok at the time, but I find it difficult to go back to - it's concentrated MCU snark dialogue, with everyone talking in the same voice.

I'm also still peeved that Valkyrie has been turned into this massive Heroic icon, despite her back story involving her hunting and selling people into slavery for her own financial gain. At no point is this actually tackled because she was a bit sad at losing her girlfriend. Tony Stark still gets shit for making a weapon ten years ago.

He shot down many Nazis during his illustrious flying career with the RAF in Greece, so like many of his generation, I suppose he had a ready defense against anyone trying to shit on him for his beliefs about certain people.
