The beautiful thing about TDS tumblr is...

You can fuck with them all you want to and they can't block you because you're anonymous. Part of me wishes tumblr didn't die because there was easy trolling to be had.

Well here is a very biased take from SNL Boomer Neoliberals. Its kind of sad watching people that were funny in the 1990s and early 2000s turn to shit.

I really wonder how much of that sketch was Jim Carey (the entire rant after "pausing" Trump reeked of something he forced the writers to include given that he's a sick fuck who admitted that the bulk of his anti-Trump artwork can't be shown to the public since it's painting after painting of Trump being horrifically murdered per Carey's sick fantasies of Trump being butchered).

They should have just fucking brought Sudekis or Harrelson back. Woodie doesn't do comedy as much as he used to and at least his take on Biden worked in so far as him being a slick and polished Swamp Dweller who's sophistication hid his on the downlow racism and alzheimers. Or had Sudekis come back and play Joe as a befuddled old man who you feel sorry for being made to run against Trump.

Carey's a gimmick meant to revitalize their dying brand. He's "old school" sketch comedy and one of the biggest names they could get, besides his well-known TDS that would make him a draw. Everyone with TDS knew when they heard he was going to be on that it would be a night filled with clapter moments, that was the only consideration. "Will the sketch be good" never entered into the thought process.

Stunts like this always make me think of a paraphrased version of something Bill Cosby once said: "People don't want to hear what celebrities think. People want to hear what they think in a more famous voice."

You just reminded me of how preachy this shit was. Thanks for that reminder. Maybe that's is why I didn't find it humorous as Kamala being included made no sense, muh first cum dumpster president meme and ANTIFA being dismissed at the end as a threat to the nation.

I couldn’t get through all of it. It was way too grating to sit through. Also, Baldwin’s Trump impersonation has gotten more stale as time has gone on. His Trump impersonation in 2016 was slightly better.
Dana Carvey had actually addressed this once. He said something about how for the impersonation to work it has to come from a place of humor and liking the person. He had cited his legendary Bush impersonations on SNL and how he portrayed him as a bumbling grandpa but even as he criticized Bush with the impersonations, it was still likable because he didn't hate Bush. Likeable to the point that he said that Bush had even reached out to him to tell him that he gets a kick out of the impersonations and that the problem with Baldwin is that his impersonation comes from a place of pure hate. You can't impersonate someone if you hate them because no matter what, you'll come off as unlikable and the impersonation won't work. Baldwin's impersonation of Trump will never work and will get more and more stale as time goes on because it's akin to a temper tantrum, which is really right up his alley. I mean I can't even remember what movies he was in aside from "The Shadow" but I do remember that he sperged out and called his daughter a pig and hit someone over a parking spot.

I’ve yet to find someone who can genuinely do any better than Psychicpebbles, who doesn’t (publicly) give all that much of a shit about Trump to begin with.

"Having it easier" is a luxury all it's own.

Never wanting for food?

Never worrying about freezing in winter?

Never worrying about an army invading tomorrow and putting your village to the torch? or killing you and violating your daughter for kicks?

Able to read, write, and do basic math? And if you can't, there's mechanized devices to do it for you?

Having access to the sum-total of human knowledge in your pocket right now?

Having large chunks of society dedicated to full-time enforcement of laws to protect you from harm and seek justice on your behalf? No matter how low in social stature you are?

Knowing, with trivial ease, the answers to questions millennia of humans desperately wanted to know? Like what's the Moon made out of? or What's it like on the surface of Mars? or the bottom of the deepest ocean trench?

Does all of this mean nothing? If we aren't also bathing in a gold-plated tub?

Bank account size isn't the only barometer of societal "wealth".

And as @MementoMalum points out, you throw into the garbage empty drink cans made of the same stuff Napoleon himself once commissioned a set of luxury dinnerware for state functions out of..... the idea to him that aluminum would one day be a pauper's material fit for only holding their beer would've amused him.... even if it's apocryphal. And the Washington Monument's capstone is a small ingot of aluminum.... because at the time it was built, such was an impressive feat of industry to even PRODUCE it..... nowadays, aluminum is seen as old-hat and plebian with graphite or titanium being the REAL wonder metals... race cars get carbon-fiber bodies, you peasants will just have to settle for aluminum car parts instead and only for the engine block, the body will still have to be steel....poor fellow! the idea that this would one day happen, that we'd have enough lightweight alloys to build airplanes and moon rockets, would stupefy an 18th century chemist...

So I'm not wealthy... big deal.... I'm content to be safe, warm, fed and granted the luxury of hobbies when my ancestors barely had time to not starve... we have problems, everyone does, but too often we are ignorant if not resentful of the progress we've made and do not appreciate that we do NOT have it that bad.

It can always get worse.

Crazy isn't it. These people lack a basic understanding of history, or they would realise just how good we have it now. I am educated, sat in a warm home with clean water and plenty of food in the fridge, and a motorhorse in my drive I can take anywhere I like. I am poor also, well on the lower end of the income. But I am so lucky to be alive now that I can happily take a lower paying job because I enjoy the work and my personal time, and still know I am doing fine. Thats how much better off we are, I can focus on my own journeys and still a life most kings and queens could never even dream of.

But actually. Did you know that aluminum was for millennia conceived as one of the most valuable minerals? Not for its scarcity, but because the process of refining it from Bauxite was very difficult until the 1850s. Napoleon is alleged* to have had a set of cutlery made from the metal that he prized highly due to its rarity and the cost of its production. The price of aluminum ranged from the value of silver to even higher than gold at points.

In fairness, Napoleon isn't medieval, but I realize that's besides the point.

No, I am MOTI because it seems people don't know that inflation is a thing and that I am speaking n relative terms of what we had then and now. Sure, our materials now would be priceless centuries ago, but think of the equivalents of the time that people had access to.

Okay, so the King of England had something like 14 pounds of silver, which adjusted for inflation would make him a millionaire. And? What good did it do him if the wine he bought was dirtier than the cheap wine you can buy at a corner store? Or if his health care was a bunch of monks guessing about how best to balance his humors. By the numbers he might be richer than you, but he's not better off.

And the truth is, most of that money went into war, fighting with a neighboring kingdom over a square of land they both laid claim to. The Kings of England repeatedly 'bankrupted' themselves trying to conquer France, and those battles could probably be recreated nowadays as a LARP for a fraction of what it cost those Kings.

What outlet was digging into Breonna's dating history or George's criminal past? I know about it largely because of this site, but my wife had no idea about any of that stuff until I told her.

"How many Americans died because they were denied the care Trump gets right now?"

The answer is none. Zero. Because that's not how healthcare works in this country, especially during a pandemic.

If they had a single case of a Covid patient being turned away from a hospital and dying due to lack of care, they would have made them a national name by now, screeching endlessly about rationing and dying in the streets and such. They don't have it, because it didn't happen here. (Maybe it did in Italy or China, but we aren't allowed to compare them with Orange Man Bad.)

For all the nonsense about "flattening the curve", the one thing it did do was keep the medical system from being overwhelmed when it looked like that might happen. By the time the 2nd wave spiked up, hospitals were prepared, and they had even laid off nurses and emergency workers due to lack of patients.

Now if the left wants to bitch about all the wonderful exciting experimental drugs that Trump is getting which the public doesn't have access to, well, they shouldn't have lied about injecting bleach or people drinking fish tank cleaner. They shouldn't have screeched about every vaccine Trump said might possibly work, thus killing public interest in advancing them. And they shouldn't have tied their credibility to the WHO just because Trump criticized them, since the WHO keeps saying not to give out these drugs for general use.

Propaganda has consequences, bitches.

If anything, people need to blame the riots. But that goes against the narrative and we SO can't have that can we?
