Christ, his ignorance of Chinese history is mind numbing. It's incredibly clear he just did some barebones research, and then decided to view everything through his usual lenses. Yes Christianity was heavily promoted in China as trade with Europe increased, but that process was mostly spearheaded by independent missionary forces like the Jesuits and Presbyterians. Groups that were in fact mistrusted by the nobility of northern Europe. Jesuits being spies of the papacy, and Presbyterians being some hogwash the Scots embraced when they decided they were done being used by the French Catholics to try and dunk on the English.
In fact, the British allied themselves with the Qing government against the Christians during the Taiping Rebellion. I don't get how you can look at interaction between the western powers and China and get the idea that the European states were looking to shove bibels down the throat of every Chinaman
