Since no one pointed this out, I just wanna say this person very simply stated their sexuality and by looking at which one it is (as stupid as that one in particular is) was definitely a warning to NOT be creepy/sexual, and Gabe took it as an invite to be both creepy AND sexual. Dumbass.

There was no possible way for me to anticipate that reaction. To me there is nothing remotely creepy or sexual about it in the least bit.

Substantially all modern video formats. Drag and drop to upload as an attachment which embeds and is playable in the post. If you’re having trouble because the video is huge and/or ancient, PM the staff and they’ll get it sorted out.

I know which website I'm on but I still get utterly flabbergasted sometimes by how critically socially inept some people are. The fact that you thought it was appropriate to talk about your awkward sex ed class which in no way was an appropriate rejoinder to "I'm demisexual, I only have sex with people I'm friends with first" sort of explains the entirety of your ripped up alleyway trash bag of a life.

Something's been nagging at me about Gabe and his behavior in furry communities. Remember that Gabe likes to posture himself as some kind of popufur who networks with hundreds, thousands, or over ten thousand furries. He thinks he's seriously hot stuff.

Being popular in any community requires strong social skills, and high levels of social awareness. If you're going to be accepted and liked in a group, you need to learn the social and cultural norms that the group abides by, and you need to abide by them as well. Once you've established yourself you can start bucking the trends and re-shaping things, but you can't just crash the party and expect everybody to start cheering. This only works if you're a famous celebrity or some other shit that people already want to be around.

Now, consider that Gabe has recently made a few claims.

  1. He likes to bomb every single person in a newly-joined Telegram group with DMs asking to be friends
  2. He was not familiar with the practice of noting in a Telegram nickname that a user is not accepting PMs
  3. He was not familiar with the practice of introducing one's sexuality/identity at the start of a conversation

I'd like to discuss each of these in turn.

  1. This is, was, always has been, and always will be a severe no-no. Even the most autistic furries in existence do not do this shit. Even the people who run guild recruitment bots in MMORPGs that PM every person in sight with a recruitment message are not so desperately autistic as to do this shit as a way to ask for friends. As others in the thread have said, this sort of message pisses off almost every recipient. It was not okay on IRC, it is not okay on internet forums, it is not okay on Telegram or Discord, it is not okay fucking anywhere.
  2. People putting "PMs closed/DMs closed/no PMs please/unsolicited DMs = block/etc" in their nicknames is not new. It dates back to fucking IRC for Christ's sake. Do not pretend that pre-emptively refusing unsolicited private messages from complete strangers is a new phenomenon. A fuckton of people have too many conversations going already or are otherwise stretched too thin to even politely notify you that they're too busy to say hi, so they warn you ahead of time. Ignoring these kinds of clear messages exposes how amazingly rude, vacant, and desperate for attention you actually are.
  3. Furries starting conversations by disclosing shit they think is noteworthy about their identity is not a new phenomenon either. People basing their identities around weird little snowflake sexualities is in fact new and I think it's fucking stupid, but I digress. Way back when, almost every furry absolutely fucking needed every other furry they talked to to know what species their fursona belonged to, which doesn't really happen anymore, but people still try to introduce themselves by leading off with shit about their identity -- even if their identity is based on something completely retarded, like their sexuality or their pronouns or their number of Twitter followers or headmates. It's a thing. In general, if you say hi to someone and they notify you about their sexuality and it's an unfamiliar term and you haven't already decided that this person isn't worth it, either look up the term or ask politely. You should probably ghost them either way if they lead off with that shit but again, I digress.

I bring all of this up because Gabe loves to pretend to be hot shit who's loved by everybody, but all the information available to us indicates that nobody fucking likes him and his presence is a fucking pestilence in every community he tries to join. He does not actually have any idea how to talk to people, despite how many people he claims to talk to. He has no idea how to be an accepted part of any of the groups he claims to be so adored by.

i've known this guy for years. about a decade. he'd message me once every few months (i'd reply like once every ten times?) and he'd send me the most random shit - recordings of him singing completely unsolicited on facebook and stuff. pictures of his own birthday cake.

he conveniently left out all the stuff about him being a babyfur, getting art of his kid (which is screwed up enough), the other fucked up shit. reading this thread was a fucking ride, jesus christ. if anyone has any direct questions lemme know and i'll see if i can jog my memory.

i think you misapprehended - i meant he left out the stuff when speaking to me, as in i had no clue. we mostly spoke about music and his like, obsession with musicals and stuff. he always came across as strange but harmless. i now know he is not.

i have no doubt he'll read this - khord, fuck dude, stop doubling down on your bs and get your shit together. if they just made threads of every weird furry on the internet there'd be more than 6 pages of threads so you gotta be a special kind of screwed up to qualify for this sort of treatment and man, do you qualify. if you continuously justify these **at best** really shitty lapses of judgement and **at worst** utterly dreadful, fucked up behaviour then you deserve every bit of it.
