Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler trails his challenger Sarah Iannarone by 11 points, according to a poll of likely voters conducted by DHM Research on behalf of the Portland Business Alliance.

The results were presented at a PBA meeting last week.

Wheeler polled at 30% to Iannarone's 41%, with the remaining 29% of surveyed voters split between writing in a candidate (16%) or remaining undecided (13%). It's an especially notable result given that the poll was not conducted by either campaign, though PBA is supporting the mayor. (The poll has a four percentage point margin of error.)

The results are somewhat surprising given that Iannarone finished more than 20 points behind the mayor in the primary, in which Wheeler nearly received the 50% plus one of votes required to avert a runoff.
At the same time, Wheeler has faced intense criticism throughout the summer for his handling of protests and policing. And another recent poll, conducted on behalf of a City Hall police accountability measure, had Wheeler at 26% favorability, The Oregonian reported.
The DHM phone survey, conducted from Sept. 17 to 22, also found that all the city and county measures presented to Portland voters are likely to pass. These include tax measures to build new libraries, maintain parks and renovate school buildings, as well as fund tuition-free preschool.

Update 5pm: The mayor's campaign said internal polling shows the mayor will win in November.

"Our internal polling shows that we're in position to win and that we have a clear path to victory," says Wheeler campaign spokesman Danny O'Halloran. "Most voters are just tuning in to this race, and that's why such a large number of respondents in this poll are undecided. We are confident that once voters have the opportunity to get to know both candidates, these numbers move decisively in Ted's direction."
Iannarone tweeted the story, and says she now expects "opponents of progress to do everything they can to try and block this historic grassroots campaign."

I wouldn't recommend the links on their own merits, and nobody in the thread needs to hear this, but from the lens of weaving a narrative what you've posted is... enlightening.
These are alleged papers of record. Their employees and past speak of telling the truth no matter what, of courageous reporting, and of intreped individuals that shed light where others dare not go.
...And yet they submit THIS. They had a clear opportunity to side with either A) a crew of adult losers, with no signs of diverging from their criminal pasts, and in fact seemed to be in Kenosha that night to continue immoral behaviour unpunished, or B) a 17 year old infatuated with the rule of law who has hours of footage demonstrating a responsible, samaritan nature, and they mashed A so hard it's not even funny.
Everyone in the world can go on their phones and within 10 seconds find the Kenosha shooting from numerous angles, and each and every single one exonerates the teenager totally. Every new piece of info just cements first impressions further, and the best A) supporters have mustered so far is the kid shouldn't have been out past curfew. You know who else shouldn't be out there? The crowd of arsonists and lowlives who were destroying the town for 2 days, and whom would have continued if not for spontaneous militias forming.

Hold this against them. Remember that they enthusiastically damn teenagers and lionise pedophiles and abusers. None of this is even in doubt for the average viewer, let alone a JOURNALIST, yet they continue with their delusion. The only people IRL who don't share my view on Kenosha are the types who never actually watched the footage! They got all their news from outlets like this one and from that frame, the mass media is culpable for knowingly misinforming millions. And the thing I can't understand is why they would double down. I get there's a narrative to uphold but with a case where the truth is so easily accessible, it's alarming they think thye can get out in front of it and lie so boldly.
Every outlet which lies by omission here? I can't take them seriously with anything meaningful. They may have fooled me 3 or 4 years ago, but the illusion of there being any authority to their reporting is shattered now. With such a blatant lie, I'm sure that's the same for a lot of people.
